This course is an introduction to starting and operating a family childcare. Learn the basic skills and knowledge to provide children with a nurturing, quality, safe, healthy and stimulating environment. The 20 hour course covers important topics in a child's development, behaviour guidance, health and safety requirements. Emphasis is placed on setting up a quality environment and working with children. The current fees for this program include $180 tuition, $45 course material fee, plus all applicable student fees.
Spring 2018 registration begins November 14, 2017
This course runs on Thursday evenings, 6:30 pm to 9 pm, from January 25th through March 15th.

The GOOD BEGINNINGS: Professional Development for Child Care Providers training is recognized by the Fraser Health Region Licensing Department and the BC Family Child Care Association. This part-time program prepares you to work effectively with young children within the home environment and will also qualify you to work in a Group Out of School Program or a Group Center as a third assistant.
Program Admission Requirements
- Personal interview with instructor
- Completion of English 10 with a C+ or better. Applicants must submit a transcript of the grade.
- Applicants whose first language is English, but who have not successfully completed English 10 with a C+ or better are required to write the ACP Accuplacer test and attain a minimum score of writing level 7.
- Applicants whose first language is not English and who have not completed English 10 in Canada must take the Accuplacer-ELST test. The required score is Accuplacer 88 and writing band 4.

Statement of Completion
