Sibeal Foyle B.F.A. (Belfast), M.F.A. (Calg.)
Sibéal Foyle was born and raised in Ireland. After completing her Bachelors of Fine Arts in Belfast, she immigrated to Canada, where she earned her MFA from the University of Calgary in 1986. Setting her roots in Vancouver, Sibéal has been an educator in the Fine Arts Faculty at Kwantlen Polytechnic University for over twenty years, specializing in painting and drawing. Her work is rooted in the experience drawn from personal narratives and storytelling from her large and multicultural family. Their diverse lives have been directly connected to various global situations including the Northern Irish Troubles, the Libyan Revolution and the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi Russia. In 2012 she personally transported 10 large paintings to exhibit in Benghazi, Libya. It was the first international painting exhibition to be held in that city since the revolution and in honour of that, Sibéal presented a painting titled March 20th to the Libyan Government.
