Pat Dooley Memorial Junior Boys Basketball Classic

Pat DooleyPatrick Kennedy Dooley was the ball boy for Kwantlen's Men's basketball team for two years from 2001 to 2002 when he was 10 years old.

Pat was a very talented athlete who played competitive volleyball, basketball, and golf as a student at Elgin Park Secondary School in South Surrey. During his volleyball tenure, Pat won his team's MVP award in Grade 8 and was named team captain in Grades Eight and Ten. Pat was also the starting point guard for his basketball team from Grades 8 – 10. Like his basketball hero, Steve Nash, Pat was a selfless distributor of the ball to his fellow teammates while keeping his team's best interests always in mind.

Although Pat had many successes in volleyball and basketball, his true passion in sport was saved for golf. With his coach, Pat spent long hours on the driving range and in practice sessions on a variety of courses in the Lower Mainland. While being a member at Mayfair Lakes Golf & Country Club in Richmond, Pat's lowest round was one under par (70); however, his lowest competitive round was an impressive three under par (69) at Hazlemere Golf Club in South Surrey.

When Pat finished high school, he was looking forward to pursuing various golf related scholarship opportunities with his ultimate goal of having a career in a golf related profession.
Pat passed away on February 5th, 2008 at the age of 16 after a short illness.
In honour of Pat, the Kwantlen Eagles Men's basketball team hosts an annual high school junior boys basketball classic each December.

This year the Kwantlen Eagles 5th Annual Pat Dooley Memorial Basketball Tournament will be held on Dec. 6-8 games starting at 9:00am on Thursday.  Click below for tournament results and times.
