The Bachelor of Arts Minor in Sociology program is a highly suitable accompaniment to a major or minor degree in the arts, sciences, business, technology and health-related fields. Because sociology covers a wide range of subject areas, it complements and broadens students’ perspectives and understandings of subjects covered in many other disciplines. The BA Minor in Sociology program aims to familiarize students with sociological theories and research methods, expose them to some of the main sub-fields in sociology, and enable them to explore a variety of social issues, problems and strategies for social change in the local and global contexts. Students are offered ample opportunities for engaging in hands-on learning activities, primary research projects and presentations, experiential and community-based learning, and community service work, as well the option of participating in a field school overseas in a developing nation.
Students pursuing a Minor in Sociology must be admitted to KPU for undergraduate studies.
Students pursuing this minor must declare their intention prior to graduation. A minor may only be declared as part of a bachelor’s degree.
Students must achieve a minimum grade of C in all required courses.
