Applied Science

APSC 1120
Introduction to Engineering

This compulsory non-credit course was designed to introduce the student to the practice of Engineering, through a series of seminars and field trips conducted by working Engineers. The course covers work done in the various Engineering disciplines, but focuses on particular industries rather than specific disciplines. Because of the interaction with working Engineers, the sessions are spread irregularly over the fall and spring semesters. Since the exact content changes from year to year, new registration in spring semester is not permitted.

Corequisites: The student must have completed or be registered in at least two Math or Science courses of the Applied Science program.
Transferable (refer to transfer guide)

APSC 1151 cr-4

This course will cover technical sketching, orthographic projection, visualization in three dimensions and conventions of engineering drawing. Micro-computer based graphics (AutoCAD) will be introduced and used extensively. The principles of descriptive geometry will be applied to the solution of space problems. This course is designed for students intending to transfer to an Engineering program.

Prerequisites: MATH 1112 (or higher level) or Mathematics 12 (with a C or better)
Transferable (refer to transfer guide)
