English as a Second Language Immersion

English as a Second Language/Immersion
This course is intended primarily for students who require a short, intensive ESL program. Students must attend English classes full time for 5 weeks and live in a supervised, English-speaking environment (homestay preferred)
This course focuses on building English language skills necessary for everyday use. It is intended for students who are at a beginner level of English language proficiency. The focus is on listening and speaking skills with additional attention to reading and writing skills. The course is supplemented by four 2-hour afternoon classes which focus on content-based or combined skills "workshops" such as English for Business, Art Appreciation, or Newsletter Writing.
Prerequisites: SLEP test scores between 20-40

The focus is on conversational skills with additional attention to reading and writing skills. The course is supplemented by four 2 hour afternoon classes which focus on content-based or combined skills "workshops" such as English for Business, Art Appreciation, or Newsletter Writing.
Prerequisites: SLEP scores 50-60

This course focuses on building language skills necessary for the use of English in a large variety of situations. It is intended for students who are at an advanced level of proficiency. The focus is on all skills but in particular reading and writing skills. The course is supplemented by four-two hour classes which focus on content-based or combined skills "workshops" such as English for Business, Art Appreciation, or Newsletter Writing.
Prerequisites: SLEP scores 50-60
