Prevention and Recovery: Eating Disorders and Disordered Eating • HLTH 9000

Individuals struggling with eating disorders and disordered eating deserve to be served by professionals with relevant and precise knowledge and competencies in the eating disorder field.

There is an urgent need for this training: for professionals already employed, to continue their staff roles, for employers who need to maintain hospital units focused on the treatment of critically diagnosed patients, and the for early intervention and long-term recovery for those who want help to avoid hospitalization, are waiting to enter hospital, or who need follow-up after leaving hospital.

This online course uses efficient, effective and flexible methods for the transfer/application of module readings, assignments and exams.

The foundation of this course is the application of eating disorder/disorder eating concepts to the workplace. The quality of care provided to clients struggling with this devastating illness, will improve as cohorts of learners form communities of practice to transfer and share their new professional competencies.

This Health Science, Continuing Education course is a self-paced, on-line distance education that is instructor-supported, for professionals who wish to enhance their knowledge about caring for clients struggling with eating disorders/disordered eating. Internet access, Microsoft Word software, and reasonable keyboarding skills are required.

This course began June 16, 2014. Students may register at any time and will be given six months to complete.

This course is recognized by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, the Canadian Nurses Association and the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association.
