Supervising in a Unionized Environment $ 329 + GST

Course Description (1 day)

Supervising from within the union is one of the most challenging roles there is, it can also be incredibly rewarding if people are given the training and support required to succeed in this role. This course focuses on strategies to support supervisors to be very clear about their roles and responsibilities as included supervisors.

Employee Engagement $ 329 + GST

Course Description (1 day)

Our Employee Engagement Workshop is very interactive and applicable to the real world. We work with Gallup's 12 employee engagement questions to identify practical steps that managers can take to ensure that their employees answer 'yes' to the 12 Gallup questions. We identify key contributors and detractors of employee engagement. A strong message from this workshop is that the manager has the biggest impact on employee engagement. Participants will leave the workshop with an action plan to support them in implementing their employee engagement strategies.

Course Description (1 day)

Effective managers build skilled and committed teams.

Participants in this workshop will learn:

  • the phases of team development
  • key strategies to move teams through each phase
  • to work with the Five Dysfunctions of a Team to identify challenges in their teams
  • how to address challenges in their teams

The course will focus on different strategies to build teams in a public works environment when team members may be changing frequently or seasonally. Participants will leave the course with an action plan for building a high performing team.

Course Description (1 day)

Knowing your natural leadership style can help you lead from your strengths and more effectively engage your employees. Prior to the start of this course, participants will complete the online Gallup Strengthsfinder.

In the course, participants will:

  • identify how to use their strengths to lead effectively
  • learn about six different leadership styles
  • identify opportunities to adapt their leadership in response to the needs of the situation

Course Description

  • learn the value of emotional intelligence and how to use it to manage difficult employees
  • learn how to build positive relationships with employees, colleagues, council, and the public

  • learn the strategies to develop their emotional intelligence and engage with employees
