Graduate Internship Opportunity - Office of the President

KPU is offering a paid internship in the Office of the President on the Surrey Campus to provide a qualified candidate with the opportunity to grow both personally and professionally while working alongside respected members of the University community. Candidates must be a recent university graduate (within the previous year) from a bachelor degree program. This is a temporary full-time appointment commencing approximately May 2016.

Reporting to the Confidential Assistant, the Graduate Intern will undertake projects and assignments that advance the interests of the University while gaining experience of working in a complex organization. The duties will vary during the year’s appointment and may include, but not be limited to; developing policies; researching potential opportunities and partnerships; organizing and hosting visits to the University by guests; organizing special events; support social media and web presence of the office; attending external and internal events with, or on behalf of, the President; and providing support services on an as needed basis to the Office of the President.

The Intern will be a recent university graduate (within the previous year) from a program that requires extensive research, writing and team work – preference given to former KPU students. The Intern must be completely familiar with the use of software such as MS Office and commonly-used social media, and some basic Web editing.  S/he must have demonstrated a commitment to KPU through his/her engagement as a student, have a graduating GPA of 3.5 or better, and have a sense of personal and social responsibility that can be verified by his/her faculty. The Intern will also have skills, which they will continue to develop during the term of the Internship, in the following areas; research and report writing; working in diverse teams located across campuses and beyond; interpersonal skills and project and event management.  A clean driver’s licence, the willingness to travel and to work flexible hours are an asset.
