Description:

The Creating and Supporting Culturally Diverse and Inclusive Student Teams Workshop will explore how culture influences teamwork and provide strategies for instructors to build successful and inclusive teams.

This highly interactive workshop incorporates the use of hands-on learning activities, small and large group discussion and personal reflection to engage participants. The session supports participants in examining cultural differences in the classroom and meeting the changing learning needs of students. A focus on awareness, knowledge, and skills allows participants to engage personally with the workshop content while sharing and receiving ideas to enhance the group project experience of their students.

The workshop focuses on sharing ideas that will enhance an instructor’s ability to connect with students – and allow student groups to connect with one another – the result is a better learning experience for all students – international and domestic.

Participants will leave the session with methods and tools to transform conflict into creativity, strengthen cooperation and create synergy within diverse student groups. Each participant will be provided with access to the workshop e-Portfolio containing workshop tools and activities for instructor use.

Facilitators: Lesley McCannell, Gina Buchanan & Marla McMullen

This workshop requires a minimum number of participants. Advance registration is required
