To finish of Interfaith Harmony Week at KPU on Richmond Campus, join the Multifaith Centre for a free performance of Indonesian Gamelan featuring Sutrisno Hartana.

Sutrisno Hartana, master of Javanese gamelan music, dance, and shadow puppets, performs internationally throughout Asia, Europe, and North America in both traditional and contemporary works. Dr. Hartana attended the Indonesian Dance Conservatory in Java and received his BA in 1992 from the Indonesian Institute for the Arts (ISI) in Yogyakarta. In 2004, the King of Paku Alaman gave him the title Mas Lurah Lebda Swara making him a court musician at the Royal Palace in Java. Dr. Hartana holds his MA in Ethnomusicology from the University of B.C. and a Ph.D from the University of Victoria. He also directs and teaches gamelan at Simon Fraser University; plus collaborating with the Vancouver Gamelan Society and leading the Indonesian Consulate General Gamelan Group in Vancouver. Dr. Hartana current lives with his family in Vancouver.
