Description:

Today’s learners need the ability to capture ideas, synthesize their learning across places and time and reflect on the personal and professional relevance of that learning. Eportfolios are playing an increasingly important role in this documentation of learning. This hands-on workshop will guide you through the development of your own eportfolio and through the process of introducing eportfolio learning to your students. Facilitator: Lesley McCannell, faculty member in Business and Faculty Associate, Teaching and Learning Commons.

This workshop is open to Faculty, Staff and Administrators who would like to start using eportfolios. Note: Laptops will be available for this session but please bring your own if you have one.

DAY ONE (Friday, September 14, 2018) will introduce the technology used for eportfolios - Mahara. Participants will develop a framework for their personal professional eportfolios and build the framework using Mahara.

DAY TWO (Friday, September 21, 2018) will focus on student eportfolios - what do they look like, how do students use them, and how are they assessed? Participants will design an eportfolio assignment for use in one of their courses.

DAY THREE (Friday, September 28, 2018) will focus on reflections for ePortfolios - designing reflective questions, supporting students with developing reflective skills and assessing their work.
