What are the employment opportunities available once completing the program?

Upon graduation, the Health Unit Coordinator program provides students with the knowledge, skills and abilities to work in acute care, long-term care, or extended care settings as a Unit Coordinator, also known as a Nursing Unit Assistant, Nursing Unit Clerk, or Unit Clerk. Employment opportunities in the clerical field can be available in other hospital departments, and outpatient clinics as well. This program is also available to currently employed Health Unit Coordinators who wish to upgrade their skills.

What is the approximate salary for a Health Unit Coordinator?

The approximate wage for graduates of this program is $22.00 per hour. The wage is according to the collective agreement by the Hospital Employees Union (HEU) and will increase due to shift differentials, sick time, and vacation accruement.
