ASSOCIATE REGISTRAR, STUDENT FINANCIAL SERVICES – Competition Number 14-110

 

Kwantlen Polytechnic University is currently seeking a dynamic and experienced student services professional for the position Associate Registrar, Student Financial Services. In this role, you will be responsible for the overall leadership, vision and ongoing development, supervision, management, delivery, and benchmarking of the services provided across all campuses by the Student Awards and Financial Assistance (SAFA) Office. You will also be responsible for the execution of SAFA’s integration within KPU’s strategic enrolment management plan.  SAFA is one of three offices within the Office of the Registrar, and the Associate Registrar reports to the University Registrar.

 

As Associate Registrar, you will provide leadership for Student Awards and Financial Assistance staff and act as the University’s principal contact for provincial, federal and American student loan authorities. As a member of KPU’s Student Affairs leadership team, you will work closely with other Student Affairs units, as well as with students, Faculties and KPU’s Foundation.

 

Minimum qualifications include a Master’s Degree in a related discipline and a minimum 5 years’ experience in a post -secondary student services environment with 3-5 years of increasing responsibility, including the supervision and management of staff. A minimum of 5 years of in-depth knowledge of Canadian post-secondary education systems with a demonstrated knowledge of student financial assistance issues, programs, processes and concepts are required.  The successful candidate will have a proven track record of effective team management while implementing change resulting in improvements to service quality, staff productivity and systems efficiency.  Demonstrated excellent computer skills using MS Office platforms and an intermediate knowledge of Banner (Student) or other similar student information systems are required.

ASSISTANT REGISTRAR – Competition Number 14-59

The Office of the Registrar at Kwantlen Polytechnic University is currently seeking a dynamic and experienced individual for the position of Assistant Registrar.  This management position is responsible for student systems functional operations, operational and ad hoc reporting on student related data, and managing the maintenance of pan-divisional data including PENs and high school transcripts.  In this role, you will also provide leadership to the enrolment reporting team, define and implement the functional configuration of the university student information systems, and act as an internal business systems and procedures consultant to the Office of the Registrar and other student focused areas. This position will also act as the Associate Registrar, Registration, Records, and Systems, when the Associate Registrar is unavailable.

Experience as a functional lead administering a Banner Student module (admissions, scheduling, registration, records, graduation) or comparable student information system for the Office of the Registrar is required. Experience using database reporting tools that include authoring SQL as well as experience with web content management systems is also needed in the Assistant Registrar position.

The ability to communicate patiently and effectively with a diverse range of people and situations is vital in this role, as is the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with University administration, faculty, and staff. A detailed understanding of the broad responsibilities of the Office of the Registrar is needed as well as the ability to problem solve, organize, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced ever changing environment

Qualifications for this position include: a bachelor's degree, preferably in computer science, information technology, or related field, plus a minimum of seven years recent related experience in or supporting the Office of the Registrar, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Experience in curriculum administration or logistics and a degree audit system as well as certification as a Microsoft Office Specialist in MS-Excel, MS-Word, and MS Access is ideal.

The salary range for this position is $62,700 - $72,100 per year.

The Office of Advancement at Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) is pleased to invite applications for the full-time temporary position of Advancement Officer located on the Surrey Campus.  Commencing immediately this position is scheduled to end December 31, 2014 with the potential of the position becoming permanent.

Reporting to the Director of Development the Advancement Officer will implement fundraising strategies covering all programs including special events, annual giving, major giving, grant and proposal submissions in consultation with the Director of Development.

The successful candidate will be a positive entrepreneurial professional with an excellent understanding of the philanthropic culture.  He/she will bring experience in developing partnerships, event planning, coordinating fundraising programs, marketing, and special events. Superior writing, reporting and communication skills, relevant experience with developing and implementing promotional materials as they relate to fundraising is required. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to interact effectively with a wide range of individuals at all levels of the organization as well as external communities.

The successful candidate will possess a relevant post-secondary degree or have an acceptable combination of education and experience.  With a minimum of three years current and related fundraising experience this individual will be proficient and/or technical trained in the use of relational database products such as Raiser’s Edge.  Completion of or progress towards a certification with a national fundraising association such as CFRE is considered an asset to this position.

DIVISIONAL BUSINESS MANAGER, FACULTY OF ARTS – Competition Number 14-132

Kwantlen Polytechnic University is recruiting for a Divisional Business Manager to provide strategic administrative leadership to the Faculty of Arts. The Divisional Business Manager will be accountable for the implementation and oversight of management, financial and human resources systems and controls to ensure Faculty operations are effective and efficient and meet the needs of students, departments and programs.

The Divisional Business Manager will lead and manage planning and implementation of a variety of initiatives. He/she will collaborate with the Dean and Associate Deans to foster positive and effective working relationships within the Faculty and the University community, as well as with external colleagues, agencies, institutions and government stakeholders.

The Divisional Business Manager will be responsible for collaborating with department Chairs/Coordinators in enrollment planning, scheduling, resourcing and management of the Faculty’s programs. He/she will work closely with the Office of the Registrar and other academic Faculties to ensure streamlined and effective enrollment management and program structures that meet the needs of students.  The Divisional Business Manager will also provide direction to faculty and staff for matters relating to policy, systems, procedures, budget and collective agreement interpretation.

The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree and three or more years of educational administrative experience in a relevant discipline with increasing levels of responsibility. Preference will be given to candidates with a Master’s degree or equivalent.

MANAGER, STRATEGIC PLANNING AND QUALITY – Competition Number 14-122

Kwantlen Polytechnic University is seeking a dynamic and experienced individual for the position of Manager, Strategic Planning & Quality to join our Institutional Analysis & Planning department. This diverse role includes responsibility for development, implementation, evaluation, and improvement of both quality assurance and planning processes for the University.

Reporting to the Executive Director, Institutional Analysis & Planning, the Manager will work closely with others including both internal and external committees. The Manager provides leadership and supervision to our Program Review Coordinator and Student Appraisals Coordinator, as well as research assistants, auxiliary workers, contractors, and co-op and practicum students.

Quality assurance responsibilities include oversight and support to the university’s program review and student appraisal of instruction processes. This involves cooperating with other University divisions to ensure quality assurances processes are efficiently serving the University. It also involves contributing to the development, implementation and evaluation of policies, procedures and guidelines relating to quality assurance processes and facilitating program reviews, working closely with faculty members, department heads and Deans.

Planning responsibility encompasses supporting and facilitating university strategic planning and overseeing the process for providing data support for policy formulation and planning decisions.

Qualifications for this position are a graduate degree in an appropriate field, including courses in social science research methodology and quality assurance such as program review, evaluation and continuous process improvement coupled with five years’ recent experience in planning and quality assurance, preferably in the BC post-secondary environment. Leadership and supervisory experience and evidence of active professional development are also important.

The following knowledge and skillsets are also required:

  • Excellent analytic skills and the ability to systematically identify appropriate research methodologies for addressing key issues to ensure results support informed decision making.
  • Familiarity with the BC K-12 and Post-Secondary Education systems, and post-secondary education in other parts of Canada, the US, Australasia, and Europe.
  • Project management experience and the demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic environment. Superior organizational skills and the ability to manage competing demands on your time.
  • Effective and persuasive leadership style; comfortable at all levels of an organization. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with team/work groups to accomplish goals.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with faculty, staff, and senior administrators and to present research findings and information of a complex, technical or sensitive nature to a variety of audiences in a clear, concise and effective way, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to facilitate discussions among multiple stakeholders with various and sometimes conflicting interests to achieve a cohesive and quality approach to planning that meets organizational objectives.

The salary range for this position is $74,000-$89,100 with exceptional benefits and pension plan.
