MANAGER, STRATEGIC PLANNING AND QUALITY – Competition Number 15-28

Kwantlen Polytechnic University is seeking a dynamic and experienced individual for the position of Manager, Strategic Planning & Quality. This diverse role includes responsibility for development, implementation, and improvement of quality assurance processes for the University. Planning responsibility entails supporting and facilitating university strategic planning and overseeing the process for providing data support for policy formulation and planning decisions.

Reporting to the Executive Director, Institutional Analysis & Planning, the Manager will work closely with faculty members, department heads, deans and other university administrators, as well as provide leadership and direct supervision of the staff who support program review and student appraisals of instruction.

This opportunity will appeal to those who are exceptional communicators and facilitators and who thrive in an environment of change and transition as we work toward our University strategic plan Vision 2018.

Qualifications for this position are a graduate degree in an appropriate field, and experience with social science research methodology and quality assurance processes such as program review, evaluation and continuous process improvement. A minimum of five years’ recent experience in planning and quality assurance in the post-secondary environment is preferred. Leadership and supervisory experience and evidence of active professional development are also important.

The salary range for this position is $74,000-$89,100 with exceptional benefits and pension plan.

Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) is a regionally focused, teaching institution. Situated in Metro Vancouver, and with an operating budget of approximately $150 million, KPU is a multi-sector university offering a wide array of undergraduate degree programs, trades and technology programs, and one and two-year certificate,  diploma and post-baccalaureate programs to 20,000 students on campuses in Surrey, Richmond, Langley and Cloverdale. 

With a broad mandate focusing on access, academic and work-ready education as well as innovation & scholarship, KPU seeks a new Vice-President Finance and Administration (VPFA) who will help shape the institution during a period of dynamic growth and change.

HUMAN RESOURCES CONSULTANT – Competition Number 15-53

Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) is currently seeking a regular full time Human Resources Consultant who will act as a source of expertise and provide service and support to administrators, department heads, supervisors, faculty and staff at the University.

Reporting to the Director, Employee Relations, the Consultant serves as a point of contact for clients with a primary focus on employee and labour relations.  The Consultant will maintain a large client portfolio and will consult on a variety of human resources matters including: compensation and classification, labour relations, employee relations, performance management, change initiatives and conflict resolution. The Human Resource Consultant will provide consultative direction on best HR practices as it relates to University policy, collective agreement interpretation, employment standards and other labour legislation and coordinate and facilitate timely response to client needs.

A University degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or related field and five to seven years experience in a similar role is preferred.  A CHRP designation is considered an asset.  The successful candidate will possess excellent computer skills; strong interpersonal communication skills and a demonstrated ability to work with considerable independence, discretion and initiative.

MANAGER, PURCHASING SERVICES - Competition Number 15-59

 

Kwantlen Polytechnic University is recruiting for a full-time position of Manager, Purchasing Services in the Financial Services division, located in Langley, B.C.  This position reports to the Director, Ancillary Services and provides direction, leadership and assistance to the University in areas of procurement, goods and service contracts/agreements.  The manager is responsible for development of procurement processes and management, for the supervision and allocation of resources in Purchasing Services, and the integration of procurement processes into KPU business operations and is a hands on management position.

The Manager, Purchasing Services is responsible for ensuring that University policy is adhered to with respect to procurement of goods and services, managing risk and maximizing best value opportunities within legal and legislative rules, directives and guidelines.  This position interacts internally with all levels of the University externally with regulatory bodies, shared services groups, industry groups and suppliers of goods and services.

The successful incumbent must be computer literate and well-versed in communications within the Internet, and e-commerce systems.  A professional designation (SCPM, P.Logistics, CPO, or equivalence) is required along with a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.  Also required is a minimum of 7 years’ experience in a senior, supervisory procurement position and a minimum of 10 years’ experience in developing specifications for and negotiating the purchase of a large variety of technical/instructional equipment, and contracts for a wide range of supply services.  Experience in a post-secondary education environment is preferred along with experience and demonstrated ability with enterprise resource planning system.  Experience with Ellucian Banner would be an asset.
