ASSOCIATE REGISTRAR, STUDENT FINANCIAL SERVICES – Competition Number 14-110

 

Kwantlen Polytechnic University is currently seeking a dynamic and experienced student services professional for the position Associate Registrar, Student Financial Services. In this role, you will be responsible for the overall leadership, vision and ongoing development, supervision, management, delivery, and benchmarking of the services provided across all campuses by the Student Awards and Financial Assistance (SAFA) Office. You will also be responsible for the execution of SAFA’s integration within KPU’s strategic enrolment management plan.  SAFA is one of three offices within the Office of the Registrar, and the Associate Registrar reports to the University Registrar.

 

As Associate Registrar, you will provide leadership for Student Awards and Financial Assistance staff and act as the University’s principal contact for provincial, federal and American student loan authorities. As a member of KPU’s Student Affairs leadership team, you will work closely with other Student Affairs units, as well as with students, Faculties and KPU’s Foundation.

 

Minimum qualifications include a Master’s Degree in a related discipline and a minimum 5 years’ experience in a post -secondary student services environment with 3-5 years of increasing responsibility, including the supervision and management of staff. A minimum of 5 years of in-depth knowledge of Canadian post-secondary education systems with a demonstrated knowledge of student financial assistance issues, programs, processes and concepts are required.  The successful candidate will have a proven track record of effective team management while implementing change resulting in improvements to service quality, staff productivity and systems efficiency.  Demonstrated excellent computer skills using MS Office platforms and an intermediate knowledge of Banner (Student) or other similar student information systems are required.

ASSISTANT REGISTRAR – Competition Number 14-59

The Office of the Registrar at Kwantlen Polytechnic University is currently seeking a dynamic and experienced individual for the position of Assistant Registrar.  This management position is responsible for student systems functional operations, operational and ad hoc reporting on student related data, and managing the maintenance of pan-divisional data including PENs and high school transcripts.  In this role, you will also provide leadership to the enrolment reporting team, define and implement the functional configuration of the university student information systems, and act as an internal business systems and procedures consultant to the Office of the Registrar and other student focused areas. This position will also act as the Associate Registrar, Registration, Records, and Systems, when the Associate Registrar is unavailable.

Experience as a functional lead administering a Banner Student module (admissions, scheduling, registration, records, graduation) or comparable student information system for the Office of the Registrar is required. Experience using database reporting tools that include authoring SQL as well as experience with web content management systems is also needed in the Assistant Registrar position.

The ability to communicate patiently and effectively with a diverse range of people and situations is vital in this role, as is the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with University administration, faculty, and staff. A detailed understanding of the broad responsibilities of the Office of the Registrar is needed as well as the ability to problem solve, organize, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced ever changing environment

Qualifications for this position include: a bachelor's degree, preferably in computer science, information technology, or related field, plus a minimum of seven years recent related experience in or supporting the Office of the Registrar, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Experience in curriculum administration or logistics and a degree audit system as well as certification as a Microsoft Office Specialist in MS-Excel, MS-Word, and MS Access is ideal.

MANAGER, STRATEGIC PLANNING AND QUALITY – Competition Number 14-122

Kwantlen Polytechnic University is seeking a dynamic and experienced individual for the position of Manager, Strategic Planning & Quality to join our Institutional Analysis & Planning department. This diverse role includes responsibility for development, implementation, evaluation, and improvement of both quality assurance and planning processes for the University.

Reporting to the Executive Director, Institutional Analysis & Planning, the Manager will work closely with others including both internal and external committees. The Manager provides leadership and supervision to our Program Review Coordinator and Student Appraisals Coordinator, as well as research assistants, auxiliary workers, contractors, and co-op and practicum students.

Quality assurance responsibilities include oversight and support to the university’s program review and student appraisal of instruction processes. This involves cooperating with other University divisions to ensure quality assurances processes are efficiently serving the University. It also involves contributing to the development, implementation and evaluation of policies, procedures and guidelines relating to quality assurance processes and facilitating program reviews, working closely with faculty members, department heads and Deans.

Planning responsibility encompasses supporting and facilitating university strategic planning and overseeing the process for providing data support for policy formulation and planning decisions.

Qualifications for this position are a graduate degree in an appropriate field, including courses in social science research methodology and quality assurance such as program review, evaluation and continuous process improvement coupled with five years’ recent experience in planning and quality assurance, preferably in the BC post-secondary environment. Leadership and supervisory experience and evidence of active professional development are also important.

The following knowledge and skillsets are also required:

  • Excellent analytic skills and the ability to systematically identify appropriate research methodologies for addressing key issues to ensure results support informed decision making.
  • Familiarity with the BC K-12 and Post-Secondary Education systems, and post-secondary education in other parts of Canada, the US, Australasia, and Europe.
  • Project management experience and the demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic environment. Superior organizational skills and the ability to manage competing demands on your time.
  • Effective and persuasive leadership style; comfortable at all levels of an organization. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with team/work groups to accomplish goals.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with faculty, staff, and senior administrators and to present research findings and information of a complex, technical or sensitive nature to a variety of audiences in a clear, concise and effective way, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to facilitate discussions among multiple stakeholders with various and sometimes conflicting interests to achieve a cohesive and quality approach to planning that meets organizational objectives.

The salary range for this position is $74,000-$89,100 with exceptional benefits and pension plan.

ASSOCIATE DEAN, FACULTY OF TRADES & TECHNOLOGY - Competition Number 14-01

As the Associate Dean you will work closely with the Dean in the creation, management and implementation of a long-term academic plan for the Faculty, participate in selection committees of new faculty and staff, deal with day to day matters in the Faculty and represent the Dean or Faculty when appropriate on various committees.  In collaboration with the Dean and Divisional Business Manager you will provide input into the academic program delivery, planning and course offerings as proposed by Chairs and Coordinators; ensure academic offerings are aligned with Faculty budget; review and project enrolment patterns to inform current and future academic planning.  You will establish and foster effective internal and external relationships and collaborate with other Faculties and administrative units to ensure the successful delivery of academic programs and services related to the recruitment, transition, engagement and retention of students.

We seek an exceptional individual with a trade’s qualification with IP/Red Seal plus significant related industry experience.  A Master’s degree is considered an asset.  Demonstrated teaching experience in a post-secondary environment as well as significant committee work and leadership experience is required.  The successful candidate must have a fundamental understanding of the B.C. Trades Training System and knowledge of how to enhance skills training, technologies and apprenticeships.  Demonstrated experience working in a unionized environment is essential.  With outstanding interpersonal communications skills the Associate Dean will have a record of developing positive and collaborative working relationships and have the proven ability to provide leadership and direction to build capacity in the Faculty.   An understanding of budget management and principles and demonstrated strong organizational skills applicable to operational and logistical tasks are essential.

Kwantlen Polytechnic University is recruiting a Director, International Recruitment, Admissions & Articulation for our International Division. Reporting to the Associate Vice President, International, you will be responsible for three strategic international areas: student recruitment, admissions and articulation/transfer credit. 

International Student Recruitment: 

As a dynamic and collaborative leader, you will be responsible for leading, coaching, and developing a team of marketing/admissions professionals within KPU International. You will oversee the development and execution of global marketing strategies and tactics and responsible for the comprehensive planning, implementation and management of international marketing. KPU International is highly team-orientated and thereby, you will have the opportunity to work closely and collaboratively with other members of the International team to further the overall agenda of the University.

 International Student Admissions:

As Director, you will be responsible for the oversight and management of international student admissions, working in close collaboration with the Registrar’s Office. You will ensure quality, transparency and expediency in the international application process.

Articulation/Transfer Credit:

You will also be responsible for articulation/transfer credit for international students including development of international articulation agreements and the management of transfer credit for prospective international students.

As Director, you will promote a consistent professional image for the University through the management of KPU International’s brand and visual identity. Extensive travel is required in order to meet, develop and maintain relationships with international partners and to represent KPU Internationally with a view to strengthening the University’s international profile.

Qualifications for this position include a master’s degree in Education, Marketing, Public Relations, Business Administration or related field, coupled with relevant experience in marketing and academic admissions, strategic and operational planning, and partnership development. A strong academic background/profile is also needed in order to direct and oversee institutional articulation agreements. A minimum 5 years’ experience in an administrative leadership role with an educational, international marketing and/or admissions focus is required.

Success as a communicator in an international context and sensitivity to the complexities of cross-cultural communication is essential, as is a proven ability to work effectively with other senior leaders and conduct oneself in a professional and diplomatic manner in a demanding high stress, fast paced environment. Innovative and creative thinking to allow for fresh approach to existing activities is highly valued. Flexibility to take on a wide variety of duties and willingness to adapt work schedule is needed our fast-paced work environment.
