Kwantlen Polytechnic University is a regionally focused, teaching-led institution. Situated in Metro Vancouver, and with an operating budget of approximately $140 million, KPU is a multi-sector university offering a wide array of undergraduate degree programs, trades and technology programs, and one and two-year certificate and diploma programs  to 18,000 students on campuses in Surrey, Richmond, Langley and Cloverdale. 

 

The Faculty of Trades & Technology located at KPU Tech reflects Kwantlen’ s commitment to the economic development in the South Fraser region and educational programs that will provide industry with the competent and highly-skilled graduates it requires.  KPU Tech provides leading-edge trades  programs for training ACE-IT, Foundation, Apprentice and  students in Appliance Servicing, Automotive  Service Technician, Carpentry, Electrical,  Farrier, Metal Fabrication, Millwright, Plumbing, Warehousing and Welding.  In addition, KPU Tech is home to technology programs in Public Safety Communications (9-1-1) and CADD Technologies.  Through CE and Professional Studies a variety of Industry Service Programs are supported and delivered.

 

Reporting to the Provost & Vice President Academic, the Dean of Trades and Technology will provide leadership to all aspects of the Faculty including strategic planning, academic development, and the management of the Faculty’s financial, administrative and human resources.  The Dean will be a champion for the Faculty of Trades and Technology within the Kwantlen community and build strong relationships with government, industry and the broader community to ensure a flourishing and sustainable future for this unique and valuable training entity.

 

We seek an exceptional individual with an exemplary record as an educator and administrator within a well regarded post-secondary environment.  As an accomplished academic you will have a breadth of experience that has led to a well-informed appreciation of the diversity and educational principles of disciplines in trades and technology.  Alternatively you may have a combination of post secondary and significant industry leadership experience.

 

 With a positive, enthusiastic and collaborative leadership style you will work in conjunction with other administrators, faculty and staff to achieve the goals of the Faculty of Trades and Technology.  You will demonstrate a significant understanding of budget management and principles and strong organizational skills applicable to operational and logistical tasks.  The successful candidate will possess a strong track record in the recruitment, engagement and retention of students  and demonstrate an appreciation for students and for the role of a student focused institution.

 

The successful candidate must have a fundamental understanding of the B.C. Education System, Industry Training Authority (ITA) and how to enhance skills training, technologies and apprenticeships and have demonstrated experience working in a unionized environment.    Through exemplary communication and interpersonal skills you will have a proven record of developing positive and collaborative working relationships and have the ability to provide leadership and direction to build capacity in the Faculty. A trade’s qualification with IP/Red Seal and/or a terminal credential preferably in a technology related field is considered an asset.

ASSOCIATE REGISTRAR, ADMISSIONS, GRADUATION & ENROLMENT SERVICES – Competition Number 14-87

 

One year term position

 

The Office of the Registrar at Kwantlen Polytechnic University has an exciting opportunity for an Associate Registrar, Admissions, Graduation & Enrolment Services. This is a one year term position until approximately

July 2015.

 

In this role, you will assist the Registrar and provide leadership and guidance to the Manager, Graduation; the Manager, Admissions & Transfer Credit; and the Manager, Enrolment Services in carrying out their responsibilities with respect to the delivery of quality service and systems in accordance with Kwantlen Polytechnic University’s strategic plan. Under the direction of the Registrar, you will be responsible for the ongoing creation, delivery, maintenance, and management of services and oversight of staff.  You will also act with the full authority of the Registrar in the Registrar’s absence. The position oversees the following service departments within the Office of the Registrar: Office of Admissions, Transfer Credit Department, Graduation Office, Student Enrolment Services.

 

Working primarily at our KPU Surrey Campus, you will work closely with other leaders on student service matters related to admission, transfer credit evaluation, graduation audits, front line service delivery to students, and the University’s Convocation ceremonies.  Exceptional leadership skills and the ability to thrive in a complex unionized environment are essential. A proven track record of effective team management and change leadership resulting in improvements to service quality, staff productivity and systems efficiency is necessary in this leadership role.

 

The successful candidate will have a Master’s Degree as well as at least five years of management and leadership experience in a fast-paced post-secondary or student affairs setting with increasing levels of responsibility. Outstanding presentation, written and verbal communication skills are essential as well as a demonstrated commitment to providing outstanding customer service. In-depth knowledge of Canadian post-secondary education systems is required as well a sound understanding of strategic enrolment management concepts and academic policies and processes that contribute to a quality undergraduate experience.
