As a member of the senior executive of KPU, the Executive Director will conduct relevant research to seek and secure major gifts, engage with communities in the KPU region, and use best practices in advancement and fundraising.

As CEO of the Foundation in partnership with the Board, the Executive Director will have a pivotal role in the fiscal and program success of their foundation’s goals. The Executive Director will be accountable for the fiscal and legal management of the Foundation and serve to guide and motivate board members as they perform their duties.   

Areas of responsibility include the administration of the Office of Advancement team and related services; financial management; communications; planning for, and reporting on the Annual Fund; donor relations; and related public engagement and relations.

LEGAL COUNSEL - Competition Number 14-154

Kwantlen Polytechnic University is a regionally focused, teaching-led institution. Situated in Metro Vancouver, and with an operating budget of approximately $140 million, KPU is a multi-sector university offering a wide array of undergraduate degree programs, trades and technology programs, and one and two-year certificate and diploma programs  to 18,000 students on campuses in Surrey, Richmond, Langley and Cloverdale. 

KPU is currently seeking a full-time permanent Legal Counsel.  Reporting to the General Counsel of KPU, Legal Counsel will provide advice and guidance to senior administration on a wide range of complex and diverse legal and regulatory matters, will conduct legal research, and will respond on behalf of KPU to all access requests under the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. The Office of General Counsel for KPU is currently located on the Surrey campus of KPU.

The successful candidate will hold a law degree, will be eligible to practice law in British Columbia and will have a minimum of 5 years related experience.  S/he will have the demonstrated ability to draft, revise and review contracts including KPU affiliation agreements, research related agreements and funding/donor agreements to which KPU is a party.  S/he will be experienced in the development and/or review of procedures, practices and processes to limit legal exposure and manage risk. This individual will have demonstrated in-depth knowledge of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.

HUMAN RESOURCES CONSULTANT – Competition Number 14-162

Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) is seeking a regular full time Human Resources Consultant who will act as a source of expertise and provide service and support to administrators, department heads, supervisors, faculty and staff at the University.

Reporting to the Director, Employee Relations, the Consultant serves as a point of contact for clients with a primary focus on recruitment and workforce planning.  The Consultant will also manage the temporary foreign worker program, ensuring all regulatory conditions are met.  Additionally, the Consultant will maintain a client portfolio and will consult on a variety of human resources matters including: compensation and classification, labour relations, employee relations, change initiatives and conflict resolution. 

A University degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or related field and five to seven years experience in a similar role is preferred.  A CHRP designation is considered an asset.  The successful candidate will possess excellent computer skills; strong interpersonal communication skills and a demonstrated ability to work with considerable independence, discretion and initiative.

ASSOCIATE DEAN, Faculty of Academic and Career Advancement - Competition Number 14-165

The Faculty of Academic and Career Advancement invites applications for the position of Associate Dean at Kwantlen Polytechnic University. 

The Faculty of Academic and Career Advancement empowers students with the necessary academic skills, language capacity and knowledge required to advance in their scholastic pursuits or achieve planned career goals. Our programs are offered on all four of KPU’s campuses in Richmond, Surrey, Cloverdale, and Langley.

Reporting to the Dean, the Associate Dean will assist the Dean in overall leadership of the Faculty and have the following main responsibilities:

    • Act as resource for faculty and staff hiring and orientation, as well as retention, assignment and evaluation of existing faculty and staff.
    • Respond to and resolve student complaints, appeals and academic integrity issues.
    • Oversee academic program and curriculum planning as aligned with Faculty budget.  
    • Oversee the development, review, revisions and adherence to process and procedures.
    • Represent the Faculty on internal and external committees and boards.

We seek an exceptional individual with a Master’s degree or PhD in a related discipline along with at least five years of teaching experience in a post-secondary environment, preferably in developmental education or equivalent.  The successful candidate will have demonstrated administrative and leadership experience, in addition to diverse committee work involvement, and have an understanding of all of the departments in the Faculty.  We seek an individual who values access to post-secondary opportunities for diverse student populations and who identifies creative new opportunities to meet our mandate and the needs of our communities.  We welcome candidates who have the ability to analyze situations and develop effective solutions through outstanding interpersonal communication skills and effective working relationships. ASSOCIATE DEAN, FACULTY OF TRADES & TECHNOLOGY - Competition Number 14-01

The Faculty of Trades & Technology located at KPU Tech, Cloverdale reflects Kwantlen’ s commitment to the economic development in the South Fraser region and educational programs that will provide industry with the competent and highly-skilled graduates it requires.  KPU Tech provides leading-edge trades  programs for training ACE-IT, Foundation and Apprentice  students in Appliance Servicing, Automotive  Service Technician, Farrier, Metal Fabrication, Millwright, Carpentry, Electrical, Plumbing, Parts & Warehousing and Welding.  In addition, KPU Tech is home to Technology programs in Public Safety Communications (9-1-1) and CADD Technologies.  Through CE and Professional Studies a variety of Industry Service Programs are supported and delivered.

As the Associate Dean you will work closely with the Dean in the creation, management and implementation of a long-term academic plan for the Faculty, participate in selection committees of new faculty and staff, deal with day to day matters in the Faculty and represent the Dean or Faculty when appropriate on various committees.  In collaboration with the Dean and Divisional Business Manager you will provide input into the academic program delivery, planning and course offerings as proposed by Chairs and Coordinators; ensure academic offerings are aligned with Faculty budget; review and project enrolment patterns to inform current and future academic planning.  You will establish and foster effective internal and external relationships and collaborate with other Faculties and administrative units to ensure the successful delivery of academic programs and services related to the recruitment, transition, engagement and retention of students.

We seek an exceptional individual with a trade’s qualification with IP/Red Seal plus significant related industry experience.  A Master’s degree is considered an asset.  Demonstrated teaching experience in a post-secondary environment as well as significant committee work and leadership experience is required.  The successful candidate must have a fundamental understanding of the B.C. Trades Training System and knowledge of how to enhance skills training, technologies and apprenticeships.  Demonstrated experience working in a unionized environment is essential.  With outstanding interpersonal communications skills the Associate Dean will have a record of developing positive and collaborative working relationships and have the proven ability to provide leadership and direction to build capacity in the Faculty.   An understanding of budget management and principles and demonstrated strong organizational skills applicable to operational and logistical tasks are essential. 

This position is for a three (3) year term with the possibility of renewal.

The Human Resources Advisor is part of the Human Resource Services administration team and plays a key role in providing Human Resource services to employees of the University.  The Human Resources Advisor is responsible for processing faculty and staff appointments, personal information, benefits and employment related matters; updating the HRIS system with employee information changes and providing advice and guidance to employees regarding relevant collective agreements, policies, and benefits.

Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) is currently recruiting for a full time permanent Human Resource Advisor to commence employment as soon as possible.  This position comes with a competitive salary and benefits package and is located on our Langley campus.  

If you have the following qualifications we would love to hear from you. Completion of a recognized post-secondary diploma, business related or an equivalent combination of education and experience relating to Human Resources; a minimum of 2 years of recent related experience, preferably within a unionized setting and a working knowledge of  complex Human Resources/Payroll computer systems such as Banner, PeopleSoft, or SAP.
