As a member of the senior executive of KPU, the Executive Director will conduct relevant research to seek and secure major gifts, engage with communities in the KPU region, and use best practices in advancement and fundraising.

As CEO of the Foundation in partnership with the Board, the Executive Director will have a pivotal role in the fiscal and program success of their foundation’s goals. The Executive Director will be accountable for the fiscal and legal management of the Foundation and serve to guide and motivate board members as they perform their duties.   

Areas of responsibility include the administration of the Office of Advancement team and related services; financial management; communications; planning for, and reporting on the Annual Fund; donor relations; and related public engagement and relations.

HUMAN RESOURCES CONSULTANT – Competition Number 14-162

Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) is seeking a regular full time Human Resources Consultant who will act as a source of expertise and provide service and support to administrators, department heads, supervisors, faculty and staff at the University.

Reporting to the Director, Employee Relations, the Consultant serves as a point of contact for clients with a primary focus on recruitment and workforce planning.  The Consultant will also manage the temporary foreign worker program, ensuring all regulatory conditions are met.  Additionally, the Consultant will maintain a client portfolio and will consult on a variety of human resources matters including: compensation and classification, labour relations, employee relations, change initiatives and conflict resolution. 

A University degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or related field and five to seven years experience in a similar role is preferred.  A CHRP designation is considered an asset.  The successful candidate will possess excellent computer skills; strong interpersonal communication skills and a demonstrated ability to work with considerable independence, discretion and initiative.

ASSOCIATE DEAN, FACULTY OF TRADES & TECHNOLOGY - Competition Number 14-01

Situated in Metro Vancouver, and with an operating budget of approximately $140 million, KPU is a multi-sector university offering a wide array of undergraduate degree programs, trades and technology programs, and one and two-year certificate and diploma programs  to 20,000 students on campuses in Surrey, Richmond, Langley and Cloverdale. 

The Faculty of Trades & Technology located at KPU Tech, Cloverdale reflects Kwantlen’ s commitment to the economic development in the South Fraser region and educational programs that will provide industry with the competent and highly-skilled graduates it requires.  KPU Tech provides leading-edge trades  programs for training ACE-IT, Foundation and Apprentice  students in Appliance Servicing, Automotive  Service Technician, Farrier, Metal Fabrication, Millwright, Carpentry, Electrical, Plumbing, Parts & Warehousing and Welding.  In addition, KPU Tech is home to Technology programs in Public Safety Communications (9-1-1) and CADD Technologies.  Through CE and Professional Studies a variety of Industry Service Programs are supported and delivered.

As the Associate Dean you will work closely with the Dean in the creation, management and implementation of a long-term academic plan for the Faculty, participate in selection committees of new faculty and staff, deal with day to day matters in the Faculty and represent the Dean or Faculty when appropriate on various committees.  In collaboration with the Dean and Divisional Business Manager you will provide input into the academic program delivery, planning and course offerings as proposed by Chairs and Coordinators; ensure academic offerings are aligned with Faculty budget; review and project enrolment patterns to inform current and future academic planning.  You will establish and foster effective internal and external relationships and collaborate with other Faculties and administrative units to ensure the successful delivery of academic programs and services related to the recruitment, transition, engagement and retention of students.

We seek an exceptional individual with a trade’s qualification with IP/Red Seal plus significant related industry experience.  A Master’s degree is considered an asset.  Demonstrated teaching experience in a post-secondary environment as well as significant committee work and leadership experience is required.  The successful candidate must have a fundamental understanding of the B.C. Trades Training System and knowledge of how to enhance skills training, technologies and apprenticeships.  Demonstrated experience working in a unionized environment is essential.  With outstanding interpersonal communications skills the Associate Dean will have a record of developing positive and collaborative working relationships and have the proven ability to provide leadership and direction to build capacity in the Faculty.   An understanding of budget management and principles and demonstrated strong organizational skills applicable to operational and logistical tasks are essential. 

This position is for a three (3) year term with the possibility of renewal.

MANAGER, STRATEGIC PLANNING AND QUALITY – Competition Number 15-28

Kwantlen Polytechnic University is seeking a dynamic and experienced individual for the position of Manager, Strategic Planning & Quality. This diverse role includes responsibility for development, implementation, and improvement of quality assurance processes for the University. Planning responsibility entails supporting and facilitating university strategic planning and overseeing the process for providing data support for policy formulation and planning decisions.

Reporting to the Executive Director, Institutional Analysis & Planning, the Manager will work closely with faculty members, department heads, deans and other university administrators, as well as provide leadership and direct supervision of the staff who support program review and student appraisals of instruction.

This opportunity will appeal to those who are exceptional communicators and facilitators and who thrive in an environment of change and transition as we work toward our University strategic plan Vision 2018.

Qualifications for this position are a graduate degree in an appropriate field, and experience with social science research methodology and quality assurance processes such as program review, evaluation and continuous process improvement. A minimum of five years’ recent experience in planning and quality assurance in the post-secondary environment is preferred. Leadership and supervisory experience and evidence of active professional development are also important.

The salary range for this position is $74,000-$89,100 with exceptional benefits and pension plan.

ASSOCIATE REGISTRAR, REGISTRATION, RECORDS AND SYSTEMS – Competition Number 15-29

The Office of the Registrar at Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) has an exciting opportunity for an Associate Registrar, Registration, Records and Systems. This is an ongoing, full-time position overseeing the Registration, Records, Scheduling and Enrolment Reporting units within the Office of the Registrar.

Under the direction of the University Registrar, you will provide leadership and guidance for the ongoing creation, delivery, maintenance, and benchmarking of operations necessary for enrolment of students. You will also be responsible for ensuring the integrity of student records under the jurisdiction of the University Registrar and for ensuring necessary quality assurance measures are in place. As an advocate for continual business process improvement, you will serve as a change-agent who provides direction in the use of business systems and processes, and associated analysis and reporting for the Office of the Registrar.

Working primarily at our KPU Surrey Campus, you will work closely with other leaders on student service matters related to registration, scheduling, timetabling, grade records, transcripts and academic standing.

Delivery of quality service and systems in accordance with and support of KPU’s strategic and academic plans is a critical part of this role. Exceptional leadership skills and the ability to thrive in a complex environment are essential. A proven track record of effective team management and change leadership resulting in improvements to service quality, staff productivity and systems efficiency is necessary in this leadership role.

The successful candidate will have at least seven years of management and leadership experience in a fast-paced post-secondary setting with increasing levels of responsibility; a Master’s degree is preferred. Outstanding presentation, written and verbal communication skills are essential as well as a demonstrated commitment to providing outstanding customer service. In-depth knowledge of Canadian post-secondary education systems is required as well a sound understanding of strategic enrolment management concepts and academic policies that contribute to a quality university experience.
