INSTRUCTIONAL ASSOCIATE, FINE ARTS, FACULTY OF ARTS – Competition Number 14-190A

Kwantlen Polytechnic University seeks a highly motivated and organized individual for an on call Instructional Associate position for the Faculty of Arts.

Qualified candidates will have completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts from a publicly accredited post-secondary institution or equivalent combination of education with experience and knowledge of the techniques and safety aspects involved with: painting, drawing, photography, digital media, printmaking and two-dimensional design.  Prior experience assisting in a 2-D department at a post-secondary institution is required and preference will be given to applicants with active involvement in the local art community.

COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR – Competition Number 14-177A

 

Kwantlen Polytechnic University is recruiting for a temporary full time (to June 2015) Communications Coordinator to support the development, and execution of the prospective student recruitment communications plans and tools for the Future Students' Office. In this position, you will use your exceptional communication skills, to plan, produce, distribute and monitor print and electronic communications to prospective students and external agencies. You will also use software and related tools to ensure communications and tracking activities are implemented and quality control standards are met. As a part of the Future Students' Office team, you will also participate in the planning and organization of a variety of activities and events for prospective students and university applicants, including the development and management of recruitment campaigns.

The successful candidate will hold a Bachelor’s degree in Communications or a relevant discipline plus a minimum of three years of office administration experience as well as two years’ experience coordinating and supporting student recruitment communications. A combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.

A strong background with BANNER student IS system is needed in this role, as well as a comprehensive knowledge and proven background working with Social Media platforms and proficiency in MS Office Suite. Experience using Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software and related tools is an asset. The ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population is essential, as is the ability to anticipate project needs, discern work priorities, and meet deadlines.

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT, FACULTY OF ARTS – Competition Number 14-136A

Kwantlen Polytechnic University seeks a highly motivated and organized individual for a full-time three month Administrative Assistant position supporting the Faculty of Arts.  This position provides opportunity to be challenged with a variety of responsibilities in an academic environment. Reporting to the Business Manager, the position will be responsible for providing administrative support for the Office of the Dean, working closely with curriculum.

Qualified candidates will have completed a four-year baccalaureate degree from a publically accredited post-secondary institution and five years recent related experience that demonstrates increasing levels of responsibility and supervisory experience.  Work experience in a post-secondary environment or in a highly complex administrative environment is an asset.  They will possess superior accuracy and attention to detail particularly in editing documents and record-keeping, and superior time-management and organizational skills in coordinating projects and meeting multiple overlapping deadlines in an office environment with frequent interruptions and changing demands.  Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral, is essential, as well as work experience to demonstrate their ability to patiently and effectively deal with a diverse range of people in a pleasant and professional manner.  They will also possess a proven ability to handle confidential matters and materials with tact and discretion, work independently under minimal supervision, and adapt quickly to new technologies and ongoing organizational transitions.  Minimum required typing speed is 50 wpm and a working knowledge of English is mandatory.  Experience with financial budgets is an asset.

Shortlisted candidates will be required to undergo testing in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, written communication, quantitative skills, and typing.

INSTRUCTIONAL ASSOCIATE - ACCESS PROGRAMS FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES - Competition Number 14-193A

Kwantlen Polytechnic University is seeking applications for on-call auxiliary Instructional Associates for our Access Programs for People with Disabilities (APPD) Department which is on Richmond, Surrey, and Langley Campuses.

Using your exceptional communication abilities, you will provide assistance and support to students with multiple barriers to employment and liaise with faculty and staff. You will provide instruction, prepare classroom materials and training aids; identify, coordinate, and monitor work experience placements; support students with learning strategies in their work placements; contribute to the completion of student evaluations; and provide support to employers. You will also attend and participate in community events and perform administrative functions.  
 
Minimum qualifications for this position are a Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Education or Adult Special Education plus a minimum of three years’ recent experience working with adults with cognitive disabilities. The ability to prepare classroom material and training aids as well as knowledge of the community including local business and community agencies is essential.

ON-CALL LIBRARY ASSISTANTS – Competition Number 14-194A

Commencing immediately Kwantlen Polytechnic University Coast Capital Savings Library is looking for On-call Library Assistants to perform general circulation duties at all our campuses but specifically at our Cloverdale and Langley Campus Libraries.  Availability to work daytime and evening shifts including weekends is required.

The minimum requirements for the position are related training with approximately two year’s current library experience.  Applicants possessing a Library Technician Diploma will be given preference.  Demonstrated knowledge of integrated library software, computer concepts, word processing software, file management systems, and library classification systems is required.

TECHNOLOGY ASSISTANT : Information & Educational Technology – Technology Services - Competition Number 14-192A

We require a Technology Assistant to join our Information & Educational Technology Team to assist with the basic level system administration of the University’s network and desktop environment. This position requires traveling to the other campuses and working flexible hours. It will commence as soon as possible as a full time auxiliary position for 1 year.

You will be responsible for the day to day operations of tasks such as simple network operations, creating network diagrams using Visio, network wiring, basic desktop multimedia support and work on the IT Service Desk.

The successful candidate will have completed the first year of a university degree in computing/networking studies, supplemented by experience working in a post-secondary institution in a network/desktop environment and on an IT Service Desk. Good working knowledge of shell scripting, Visio, Windows Server 2008 or higher is required along with good experience in providing on-site computer desktop, peripheral support including laptops, tablets, smart phones and audio visual equipment. Good verbal and written communication skills are required along with the ability to work under minimal supervision, under own initiative and as an effective team member.

ACCOUNTING ANALYST – Competition Number 14-149A

Commencing immediately Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) requires a full-time Accounting Analyst for a term of approximately one year in our Finance department located in Langley, BC.  The primary functions of this position are to provide support in the areas of institutional financial reporting and analysis, financial reporting systems, and year-end audit requirements. 

Minimum requirements include completion of the third (3rd) level of the CGA/CMA program at a recognized institution plus three years related experience, preferably in the public sector, or equivalent combination of education and experience.  The successful candidate will have a demonstrated working knowledge of integrated accounting systems; a demonstrated knowledge of common PC applications software such as spreadsheet, database and word processing; and a demonstrated ability to communicate courteously and effectively in English both verbally and in writing.  The candidate must also have demonstrated ability to exercise judgment to work and complete assignments with minimal supervision.  The salary range for this position is $26.59-$29.74/hour or $1,861.30 - $2,081.80 bi-weekly.
