INSTRUCTIONAL ASSOCIATE - ACCESS PROGRAMS FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES - Competition Number 14-111A

KPU is seeking applications for on-call auxiliary Instructional Associates for our Access Programs for People with Disabilities (APPD) Department which is on Richmond, Surrey, and Langley Campuses.

Using your exceptional communication abilities, you will provide assistance and support to students with multiple barriers to employment and liaise with faculty and staff. You will provide instruction, prepare classroom materials and training aids; identify, coordinate, and monitor work experience placements; support students with learning strategies in their work placements; contribute to the completion of student evaluations; and provide support to employers. You will also attend and participate in community events and perform administrative functions.  
 
Minimum qualifications for this position are a Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Education or Adult Special Education plus a minimum of three years’ recent experience working with adults with cognitive disabilities. The ability to prepare classroom material and training aids as well as knowledge of the community including local business and community agencies is essential.

ENROLMENT SERVICES CAMPUS SUPERVISOR - Competition Number 14-119R

 

Kwantlen Polytechnic University is currently seeking an Enrolment Services Supervisor for our Surrey campus. The Enrolment Services Supervisor provides leadership and supervision for front-line Student Services staff including recruiting, training, scheduling, assigning work and providing coaching and leadership to staff.

The successful candidate will be expected to supervise the functions of a campus Enrolment Services Office, and will oversee the delivery of customer service for functions related to student admission, assessment, registration, records, and graduation. In addition, this position is responsible for upholding established data practices in the office with regard to the set-up, maintenance and updating of student files and related documentation.

This position will also oversee the processing of fee payments, refunds and related cashiering functions in addition to preparing bank deposits and verifying daily cash reconciliations.

This position requires a minimum of two-years of post secondary education (bachelor’s degree preferred) supplemented with a minimum 3 years related office experience and a minimum of 2 years supervisory experience. Applicants must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite at an intermediate level, in addition to having a demonstrated proficiency using a student records based database (BANNER preferred). Applicants must exhibit an aptitude for exacting and precise work and have the ability to prioritize and work independently with frequent interruptions.

Preference will be given to applicants who exhibit the above skills in addition to demonstrated supervisory experience in a post secondary setting, in combination with experience using BANNER.

This is a full-time position (35hrs/week) with some evening shifts required. Inter-campus travel is required.

FACILITIES DESIGN ASSISTANT – Competition Number 14-134A

 

Kwantlen Polytechnic University is seeking temporary full-time Facilities Design Assistant to work with our Facilities Services department until June 30, 2016. In this role, you will assist in the development of interior space requirements, furniture selection, and will schedule, coordinate and oversee the efficient delivery of the move and relocation process of small to large scale projects.

This is an excellent opportunity for candidates who have completed a minimum of two years of study in Architectural Design, Interior Design or Project Management. Experience in facilities project management, facilities operations logistics, interior design, move coordination, asset and inventory control, construction or furniture assembly and installation would be an asset. Demonstrable proficiency in AutoCAD and other commonly used design software such as Photoshop and Sketch-up is required. The successful candidate will also have experience working with computer programs and applications including Windows, Microsoft Office and Project and be familiar with methods, practices, materials, tools and equipment used in the delivery of space planning, move coordination and asset management. A current valid Driver’s Licence is required.

HORTICULTURE AUXILIARY LABORATORY TECHNICIAN – Competition Number 14-137A

 

Kwantlen Polytechnic University’s Faculty of Science and Horticulture is currently seeking applications for an on-call auxiliary Laboratory Technician. The position is offered at the Langley Campus with the School of Horticulture starting October 6, 2014.

The successful applicant will work together with the Lab Supervisor and Instructional Associates in the preparation, set-up, and take-down of plant health, plant science, and soil science labs, as well as general horticulture lab duties. The Horticulture Auxiliary Laboratory Technician also monitors student activities in the lab to ensure safe procedures are followed and equipment is properly used.

Minimum qualifications include a two year Horticulture diploma (or a related discipline) with two years related work experience, a good command of the English language, a working knowledge of laboratory techniques, and a working knowledge of the operation and routine maintenance of laboratory equipment and apparatus.

The Chip and Shannon Wilson School of Design at Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) has an immediate opening for a full time permanent Program Assistant Fashion Design and Technology located on our Richmond campus.

The Program Assistant provides assistance and support to faculty and students in the Fashion Design and Technology program, including setting up, troubleshooting and maintaining fashion design and technology equipment and providing demonstrations and assistance to students in equipment use. This position is also responsible for maintaining inventory records, updating websites and social media pages as well assisting with both internal and external events and activities. 

The successful candidate will be a graduate of a degree program in Business Administration, Marketing or Fashion with related fashion experience. They will have a strong ability to work in a digital environment working with software programs such as Microsoft Office Suite at an intermediate level, Adobe Creative Suite, Adobe CS6 and Photoshop.  Preference will be given to those with demonstrated Gerber and Digitizing software experience.

This individual will bring demonstrated skill in preparing written correspondence, record keeping, cataloguing and managing electronic files. Excellent communication skills both written and oral is required, as well as work experience to demonstrate their ability to patiently and effectively deal with a diverse range of people.

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT, FACULTY OF ARTS – Competition Number 14-136A

Kwantlen Polytechnic University seeks a highly motivated and organized individual for a full-time seven month Administrative Assistant position supporting the Faculty of Arts.  This position provides opportunity to be challenged with a variety of responsibilities in an academic environment. Reporting to the Business Manager, the position will be responsible for providing administrative support for the Office of the Dean, working closely with curriculum.

Qualified candidates will have completed a four-year baccalaureate degree from a publically accredited post-secondary institution and five years recent related experience that demonstrates increasing levels of responsibility and supervisory experience.  Work experience in a post-secondary environment or in a highly complex administrative environment is an asset.  They will possess superior accuracy and attention to detail particularly in editing documents and record-keeping, and superior time-management and organizational skills in coordinating projects and meeting multiple overlapping deadlines in an office environment with frequent interruptions and changing demands.  Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral, is essential, as well as work experience to demonstrate their ability to patiently and effectively deal with a diverse range of people in a pleasant and professional manner.  They will also possess a proven ability to handle confidential matters and materials with tact and discretion, work independently under minimal supervision, and adapt quickly to new technologies and ongoing organizational transitions.  Minimum required typing speed is 50 wpm and a working knowledge of English is mandatory.  Experience with financial budgets is an asset.

Shortlisted candidates will be required to undergo testing in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, written communication, quantitative skills, and typing.

FACULTY OF HEALTH – NURSING LAB INSTRUCTOR - Competition Number 14-138A

Kwantlen Polytechnic University is currently seeking coverage for a Nursing Laboratory Instructor for a maternity leave position to November 2015. This is a regular part-time (21 hrs per week) Nursing Laboratory Instructor position. (Please note, this is not a faculty position). Reporting to the Divisional Business Manager, the Nursing Laboratory Instructor works closely with faculty to assist them with course delivery and development.  The successful candidate will participate in Faculty of Health programs by providing students with instruction, guidance, feedback and assessment within a simulated hospital setting.

Minimum qualifications include an RN/RPN designation (degree completion preferred), current practicing registration with the CRNBC/CRPNBC and at least 3 years recent diverse medical/surgical clinical experience. The successful applicant must demonstrate strong interpersonal and communications skills.  This individual must be able to work collaboratively as well as independently, have a minimum of three years recent clinical practice and be familiar with nursing care procedures and equipment.  Preference will be given to those candidates with a working knowledge of low, medium and high-fidelity simulation.
