ACCOUNTING SERVICES COORDINATOR – 14-158R

Commencing immediately, we require a full-time Accounting  Services Coordinator  in our Finance department located in Langley, BC.  The primary function of this position is to provide analysis, research, and accounting  support on financial information relating to payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, taxation and cash management.

Minimum requirements include completion of two years of an accounting program at an accredited post-secondary institute and a minimum five years  related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.  The successful candidate will have a demonstrated working knowledge of integrated accounting systems; a demonstrated knowledge of common PC applications software such as spreadsheet, database and word processing; and a demonstrated ability to communicate courteously and effectively in English both verbally and in writing.  The candidate must also have demonstrated ability to exercise judgment to work and complete assignments with minimal supervision.

Preference will be given to applicants with experience in the post-secondary sector.  This is a unionized position with BCGEU, and includes a comprehensive benefit package.  The salary range is  Pay level 12 which is $45,809.40 to $51,196.60.

LAB TECHNICIAN – FINE ARTS, FACULTY OF ARTS - Competition Number 14-181R

Kwantlen Polytechnic University seeks a highly motivated, organized individual with proven experience with technical Fine Arts support in a post-secondary education environment to join our Fine Arts Department as a Lab Technician for the Faculty of Arts.  This fulltime regular position is scheduled for five workdays per week starting January 5, 2015.

Qualified candidates will have completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts or equivalent combination of education and experience from a publicly accredited post-secondary institution with experience and knowledge of the techniques and safety aspects involved with: print making, ceramics, woodworking, metalworking, and mold making.  Prior experience assisting in a 3-D department at a post-secondary institution is required. Preference will be given to applicants with active involvement in the local art community and experience in promoting and developing strong workplace communications and processes.

Kwantlen Polytechnic University is currently accepting applications for on-call auxiliary employees to work in the Bookstores at their Surrey, Richmond, Cloverdale and Langley campuses.

Applicants must have recent experience on a computerized point of sale cash register system and demonstrated customer service experience in a retail environment.  Preference will be given to applicants who are familiar with Microsoft Word and have a keyboarding speed of 30+ words per minute.

INTERNATIONAL EDUCATIONAL ADVISOR, GLOBAL PARTNERSHIPS, BRAZIL - Competition Number 14-174R

 

Kwantlen Polytechnic University has an exciting opportunity for regular full-time International Educational Advisor to provide guidance and advice to international students from partner programs in Brazil and other locations in Latin America. In this role, you will provide advice and support to students in developing educational plans, achieving career and educational goals and help students to understand and ensure compliance with the requirements of their study permits as defined by the Canadian Immigration and Refugee Protection Act. This will involve conducting student interviews to assist with course selection, program planning and developing success skills as well as delivering workshops.  This position will commence as soon as possible.

 

The ability to speak and write fluently in Portuguese is required, fluency in Spanish is preferred.  Superior public speaking, presentation and organizational skills are also essential. Minimum qualifications include a baccalaureate degree and two years of advising experience in a post-secondary setting.  Candidates must possess a strong understanding of secondary and post-secondary educational systems including career opportunities for university graduates.  They must also possess understanding of international educational systems (particularly Brazil) as well as an understanding of international student and cross-cultural issues. Demonstrated analytical skills including problem solving, needs analysis and the ability to develop flexible approaches toward work procedures are essential.

LABORATORY INSTRUCTOR, BIOLOGY – Competition 14-172A

Kwantlen Polytechnic University’s Faculty of Science and Horticulture is seeking a qualified part-time (12 hours/week) lab instructor to work at our Richmond campus, commencing January 5 to approximately April 24, 2015.

The Laboratory Instructor participates in the Biology Department with the overall course delivery by assuming responsibility for instruction, student guidance and assessment within a lab environment.  He or she may be assigned to work alongside other Laboratory Instructors (or a faculty member) or alone in fulfilling the above functions.  Lab responsibilities may involve any first and second year university level or applied program service courses offered in the Biology Department’s educational plan.

The successful candidate will have at a minimum, a B.Sc. in Biology; demonstrated good working knowledge of the course content and competence in laboratory techniques pertaining to the instruction of first year biology courses and genetics; demonstrated good working knowledge of the course content and competence in laboratory techniques pertaining to one or more of the following – cell biology, ecology, microbiology; and demonstrated ability to provide instruction to undergraduate students in a laboratory setting.
