PAYROLL OFFICER - Competition Number 15-17A

Kwantlen Polytechnic University is currently accepting applications for a full-time (35 hours a week) temporary (12 month position) Payroll Officer.  This position will begin April 1, 2015.

Minimum qualifications include a Payroll Compliance Practititioner (PCP) designation from the Canadian  Payroll Association plus completion of the first year of an accounting/business program at an accredited post-secondary institute and one year current, related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Demonstrated working knowledge of integrated HRIS and accounting systems is also required.

Salary range for this position is $39,839.80 - $44,517.20 plus an attractive benefits package.

RESEARCH ASSISTANT, QUALITY ASSURANCE – Competition Number 15-11R

Kwantlen Polytechnic University is seeking a part-time (80%) research assistant for our Quality Assurance area of the Office of Institutional Analysis and Planning. Reporting to the Manager, Strategic Planning & Quality, this position provides assistance with our student appraisals and program review functions. The primary duties of this position are to support the Research Analyst, Quality Assurance, with the administration of surveys for both program review and student appraisals of instruction.

The work pertaining to Student Appraisals includes administration of the online survey (using Class Climate software), as well supporting the in-class administration of surveys.  For Program Review, the job entails administration of the online survey administration (using Fluid Surveys software), and basic analysis of the survey results, as well as administrative support for the program review process.

This exciting position requires analytical skills and computerized statistical analysis and reporting abilities. A Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences or equivalent, with one to two years related work experience in a post-secondary education environment, is needed. Knowledge of and experience with microcomputer applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software, database applications and statistical software (Word, Excel, Access, SPSS), is required. Knowledge of Banner Student Information System, and web-based survey software is an asset.  This role also requires a keen attention for details, an organized and systematic approach to work and the ability to interact effectively with students, faculty, and staff.

Note this is a 28 hour per week position. Some evenings and the occasional part Saturday will be required to conduct in-class surveys.  Most of the work will be performed on the Surrey campus, but some travel to other campuses (in Richmond and Langley) will be required to conduct in-class surveys.

The salary range for this position is $45,809 to $51,196, with exceptional benefits and pension plan.

INTERNATIONAL EDUCATIONAL ADVISOR, GLOBAL PARTNERSHIPS, SAUDI ARABIA - Competition Number 15-13R

Kwantlen Polytechnic University has an exciting opportunity for an International Educational Advisor to provide guidance and advice to international students from partner programs in Saudi Arabia. In this role, you will provide advice and support to students in developing educational plans, achieving career and educational goals and help students to understand and ensure compliance with the requirements of their study permits as defined by the Canadian Immigration and Refugee Protection Act. This will involve conducting student interviews to assist with course selection, program planning and developing success skills as well as delivering workshops. 

The ability to speak and write fluently in both Arabic and English is required.  Superior public speaking, presentation and organizational skills are also essential. Minimum qualifications include a baccalaureate degree and two years of advising experience in a post-secondary setting.  Candidates must possess a strong understanding of secondary and post-secondary educational systems including career opportunities for university graduates.  They must also possess understanding of international educational systems (particularly in the Middle East) as well as an understanding of international student and cross-cultural issues. Demonstrated analytical skills including problem solving, needs analysis and the ability to develop flexible approaches toward work procedures are essential.

INTERNATIONAL RECRUITMENT, ADMISSIONS & ARTICULATION SUPPORT ASSISTANT - Competition Number 15-18A

Are you interested in helping shape the future of students? Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) is currently seeking a full-time temporary International Recruitment, Admissions & Articulation Support Assistant to provide advice and support to potential international students/applicants regarding KPU programs, admissions, registration and other student services. In addition, the Articulation Support Assistant will support the International Recruitment and Admissions team in a variety of ways, including responding to external and international inquiries regarding KPU offerings programs, admissions, procedures, policies and services.  The Articulation Support Assistant is responsible for receiving applications and other related admissions documents; as well as verifying, updating, and maintaining student records. This position will be required to draft routine correspondence such as emails, letters or forms and also will prepare materials for and assist with information sessions, events, and special KPU functions.

Minimum qualifications include high school completion, with some post-secondary education preferred as well as demonstrated working experience with and knowledge of international admissions processes.  The successful candidate will demonstrate proficiency with Student BANNER or a similar student records- based system. This individual will have demonstrated basic knowledge of KPU’s university programs and courses and have the ability to keep up-to-date with credit, non-credit and continuing education university offerings, university and programs.

Communication is an important skill needed for this position as you must be able to deal patiently and effectively with a wide range of people that calls for the use of diplomacy and tact in the delivery of information.  The written and verbal command of one or more of the following languages would be considered an asset: Cantonese, Mandarin, Spanish, Korean, Japanese, Arabic, Punjabi, Hindi, Portuguese, Turkish, Farsi, or Russian. Superior organizational skills are also essential. S/he must also demonstrate the awareness and sensitivity needed with working with the cross-cultural issues and/or needs that may arise when working with international students.
