Kwantlen Polytechnic University seeks a highly motivated individual with exceptional organizational and instructional skills for an exciting and challenging half-time (17.5 hours/week) Laboratory Instructor position in the Faculty of Arts. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of university lab-based curriculum and deliver lab instruction to students for the Bachelor of Science in Psychology lab.
Qualified candidates will have completed four-year Bachelor's degree in Psychology or in a related field from an accredited post-secondary institution with preference given to candidates who hold a Bachelor of Science and/or a Major in Psychology. Students in their fourth year of a Bachelor of Science degree with anticipated completion date being within a year of hire will also be considered. In addition, the successful candidate will have experience in delivering lab instruction in a post-secondary environment, developing and managing lab procedures in accordance with government legislation, and hiring and supervising student lab assistants. They will possess superior accuracy and attention to detail particularly in the cataloging and organization of sensitive and fragile lab materials, as well as possess superior time-management and organizational skills in coordinating projects with competing deadlines. Exceptional communication and presentation skills, written and oral are essential to the position, as are superior interpersonal skills with the ability to serve a diverse range of people in a patient, pleasant and professional manner. They will also possess a proven ability to handle confidential matters and materials with tact and discretion, work independently under minimal supervision, and adapt quickly to new technologies and ongoing organizational transitions. Successful candidates will be expected to be able to commute to any of the four Kwantlen campuses, and be available for occasional evening and weekend shifts. Starting salary is approximately $23,300.

The Chip and Shannon Wilson School of Design at Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) has an immediate opening for an on-call (casual) Divisional Program Technician located on our Richmond campus. The first assignment for this position will be for 2-3 days per week for a 2 month period commencing immediately. Shifts will be scheduled to start early afternoon for approximately 7 hours per day. On-going work is required on an as needed basis.
The successful candidate will provide assistance and support in the division and will be required to work in direct support of several instructors and program and accept job related requests for assistance on a day to day basis. As a team player the incumbent in this position will be required to set priorities quickly and work on multiple projects. They must have the ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, faculty, and the external community and have the ability to work with independence, initiative, and discretion.
Minimum requirements for this position include completion of a vocational trades program or related credential plus five years related experience, preferably supporting vocational trades training programs. This individual must have demonstrated experience troubleshooting hand tools and small machines. In addition, experience monitoring student activity in a shop environment, ensuring the safe handling of materials, tools and equipment; demonstrated knowledge of WHMIS and WCB safe work procedures for the trades and working knowledge of the operation and routine maintenance of machine tools is essential. Computer skills required include knowledge of MS Office, MS Excel, and Outlook. Flexible schedule is required, with some work on evenings and weekends.

The Coordinator Communications, Events and Professional studies is responsible for the development and implementation of comprehensive communications, events, and professional studies plans for the Chip and Shannon Wilson School of Design. The Coordinator is responsible for developing and implementing an ongoing communications plan that enhances the profile of KPU’s Wilson School of Design including visibility, branding, positioning, media and community relations, as well as assisting with the advertising and promotions of programs. About the position
As a Student Recruitment Coordinator, you will use your dynamic public speaking skills to present information about Kwantlen Polytechnic University to a wide variety of audiences for the purpose of identifying and recruiting prospective students. In this role, you will develop and build relationships with individuals and groups, including secondary school students, parents, counselors, career advisors, school district personnel, government officials, businesses and community agencies. You will travel across the lower mainland and occasionally areas of Canada to provide information, advice, and guidance regarding student career goals, and access to KPU’s programs.
This position reports to the Manager, Student Recruitment and is responsible for organizing and conducting community visits, career fairs, tradeshows and outreach events; as well as coordinate administrator, faculty or staff presentations. Other duties may include: compiling documentation, inquiry responses, enrollment management, online interactive communications, database management and peer training support.
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree, preferably from an accredited Canadian public post-secondary institution. This position requires a minimum of two years professional public speaking experience. Excellent communication, customer service and public relations experience is a must. Up-to-date knowledge of secondary school systems, KPU’s course programs and offerings; knowledge of education and employment trends, and an ability to represent the university with discretion and diplomacy is essential.
