INSTRUCTIONAL ASSOCIATE - ACCESS PROGRAMS FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES - Competition Number 14-133A

Kwantlen Polytechnic University is recruiting for a part-time Instructional Associate to join our Access Programs for People with Disabilities (APPD) department at our Richmond campus. This is a temporary position from

January 5, 2015 until June 2015. Hours of work are 22 hours per week.                         

In this role, you will provide assistance and support to students with multiple barriers to employment and liaise with faculty and staff. You will provide instruction, prepare classroom materials and training aids; identify, coordinate, and monitor work experience placements; support students with learning strategies in their work placements; contribute to the completion of student evaluations; and provide support to employers. You will also attend and participate in community events and perform administrative functions.  
 
Minimum qualifications for this position are a Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Education or Adult Special Education plus a minimum of three years’ recent experience working with adults with cognitive disabilities. The ability to prepare classroom material and training aids as well as knowledge of the community including local business and community agencies is essential.

 FINANCIAL AID ASSISTANT - Competition Number 14-163R

The Student Awards and Financial Assistance department at Kwantlen Polytechnic University has an immediate opening for a regular full-time Financial Aid Assistant at the Surrey campus. In this role, you will be responsible for providing information and guidance to students regarding Financial Assistance Programs as well as performing administrative functions in support of the Financial Awards office. 

The successful candidate will have direct experience working with ABESAP, student loans and the Canada Student Grant program, will be skilled in dealing with sensitive situations and be able to demonstrate the use of diplomacy and tact while communicating with a diverse range of people. Strong problem solving skills, the ability to work independently while exercising good judgment and strong organizational skills are important in this role. A working knowledge of Student Banner or similar student records system is required as well as proficiency with MS Word and Excel.

COMMUNICATIONS & EVENT SPECIALIST, FACULTY OF SCIENCE & HORTICULTURE – Competition Number 14-170A

Kwantlen Polytechnic University seeks a highly motivated and organized individual for a full-time one year Communications & Event Specialist position for the Faculty of Science & Horticulture.  This position will provide leadership, support and direction for recruiting, marketing and promotional functions in support of the Office of the Dean.   The position liaises with faculty, staff and external agencies for the coordination of a variety of Faculty/University events, special meetings and publication requirements.

Qualified candidates will have successfully completed an undergraduate degree from a recognized post-secondary institution and a minimum of 2 years of experience in a related position, or successfully completed a two-year diploma in a related field and a minimum of 4 year of experience, preferably in a post-secondary institution. 

Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral, are essential for this role as well as demonstrated experience with recruitment,  the planning and coordinating of events, and website management and maintenance.  The ability to work with minimal supervision,  adapt quickly to new technologies, coordinate projects, meet multiple overlapping deadlines and thrive during ongoing organizational transitions are critical for this role.

COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR – Competition Number 14-177A

Kwantlen Polytechnic University is recruiting for a full-time temporary (ending February 6, 2015 with the possibility of extension) Communications Coordinator to support the development, and execution of the prospective student recruitment communications plans and tools for the Future Student Office. In this position, you will use your exceptional communication skills, to plan, produce, distribute and monitor print and electronic communications to prospective students and external agencies. You will also use software and related tools to ensure communications and tracking activities are implemented and quality control standards are met. As a part of the Future Students’ Office team, you will also participate in the planning and organization of a variety of activities and events for prospective students and university applicants, including the development and management of recruitment campaigns.

The successful candidate will hold a Bachelor’s degree in Communications or a relevant discipline plus a minimum of three years of office administration experience as well as two years’ experience coordinating and supporting student recruitment communications. A combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.

A strong background with BANNER student IS system is recommended in this role, as well as a comprehensive knowledge and proven background working with Social Media platforms and proficiency in MS Office Suite. Experience using Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software and related tools is an asset. The ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population is essential, as is the ability to anticipate project needs, discern work priorities, and meet deadlines.

ACCOUNTING SERVICES COORDINATOR – 14-158R

Commencing immediately, we require a full-time Accounting  Services Coordinator  in our Finance department located in Langley, BC.  The primary function of this position is to provide analysis, research, and accounting  support on financial information relating to payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, taxation and cash management.

Minimum requirements include completion of two years of an accounting program at an accredited post-secondary institute and a minimum five years  related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.  The successful candidate will have a demonstrated working knowledge of integrated accounting systems; a demonstrated knowledge of common PC applications software such as spreadsheet, database and word processing; and a demonstrated ability to communicate courteously and effectively in English both verbally and in writing.  The candidate must also have demonstrated ability to exercise judgment to work and complete assignments with minimal supervision.

Preference will be given to applicants with experience in the post-secondary sector.  This is a unionized position with BCGEU, and includes a comprehensive benefit package.  The salary range is  Pay level 12 which is $45,809.40 to $51,196.60.

LAB TECHNICIAN – FINE ARTS, FACULTY OF ARTS - Competition Number 14-181R

Kwantlen Polytechnic University seeks a highly motivated, organized individual with proven experience with technical Fine Arts support in a post-secondary education environment to join our Fine Arts Department as a Lab Technician for the Faculty of Arts.  This fulltime regular position is scheduled for five workdays per week starting January 5, 2015.

Qualified candidates will have completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts or equivalent combination of education and experience from a publicly accredited post-secondary institution with experience and knowledge of the techniques and safety aspects involved with: print making, ceramics, woodworking, metalworking, and mold making.  Prior experience assisting in a 3-D department at a post-secondary institution is required. Preference will be given to applicants with active involvement in the local art community and experience in promoting and developing strong workplace communications and processes.
