ONCALL LIBRARY ASSISTANT – Competition Number 14-32A

 

Commencing immediately Kwantlen Polytechnic University Coast Capital Savings Library is looking for a Library Assistant to perform general circulation duties at the Surrey Campus Library.  The shifts are: Wednesday 6:15 pm-11:15 pm and Saturday 9:45 am-1:45 pm.

 

The minimum requirements for the position are related training with approximately two year’s current library experience.  Applicants possessing a Library Technician Diploma will be given preference.  Demonstrated knowledge of integrated library software, computer concepts, word processing software, file management systems, and library classification systems is required.

PROGRAM ASSISTANT, STUDENT LIFE AND DEVELOPMENT - Competition Number 14-50A

 

Kwantlen Polytechnic University is currently seeking a temporary full-time Program Assistant in its Student Life and Development Department. The successful candidate will be located at the Surrey campus for a 5 month contract ending September 30, 2014. The Program Assistant must have some experience with event management and be a confident communicator both in written and verbal form. The incumbent will work both independently and as a team to plan and execute Student Life programming such as KPU Welcomes You, Orientation, and Parent Orientation during the summer and early fall semester. 

 

Minimum qualifications include a baccalaureate degree and one year of related experience in a post-secondary setting.  Superior skills in use of MS Office applications are required. Additional skills include updating website content, posting content on social media applications, sorting & managing information in spreadsheets, and creating basic posters/newsletters. Experience with recruiting, selecting, and training volunteers is required. A valid driver’s license, access to reliable transportation and the ability to work occasional evening and weekend shifts are required.

ACCOUNTS PAYABLE CLERK – Competition Number 14-51R

 

Commencing immediately, Kwantlen requires a full-time permanent Accounts Payable Clerk on our Langley Campus.  This position will play an integral role in our Finance department.  The primary function of this position is to review and process documentation submitted for payment in compliance with established accounting principles and University policies in preparation of processing cheques and direct deposit payments.

 

The minimum requirements for this position are completion of the first year of an accounting/business program, supplemented with three years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.  The successful candidate will have a demonstrated working knowledge of integrated finance accounting systems and PC application software such as spreadsheet, database and word processing. A demonstrated ability to communicate courteously and effectively in English both verbally and in writing is essential.

ON-CALL CATALOGUING TECHNICIAN – Library, Competition Number 14-56A

 

Commencing immediately Kwantlen Polytechnic University Coast Capital Savings Library is looking for an on-call Cataloguing Technician to perform cataloguing in Technical Services at the Surrey Campus Library. Shifts will be weekday daytime only.

 

The minimum requirements for the position include a two year Library and Information Technician’s diploma and an additional three years of experience creating original and derived catalogue records. The successful applicant will have full working knowledge of:

 

  • Library of Congress and the National Library of Medicine classification schemes and subject heading authorities to ensure compliance with Anglo American and Resource Description and Access (RDA) cataloguing rules.
  • Automated library technical services procedures, particularly processing and cataloguing.
  • MARC bibliographical format for all types of library materials, print and non-print and the proven ability to interpret cataloguing rules and local cataloguing standards.
