PROGRAM ASSISTANT – CHIP AND SHANNON WILSON SCHOOL OF DESIGN – Competition Number 15-24R 

The Chip and Shannon Wilson School of Design at Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) has an immediate opening for a part-time (17.5 hours per week) permanent Program Assistant located on our Richmond Campus.

The Program Assistant provides assistance and support to the division to ensure its smooth operation for students, staff and faculty.  This position is responsible for preparing equipment and materials for use of the students, maintaining and troubleshooting equipment, maintaining equipment inventory records, updating websites and social media pages as well as assisting with both internal and external events and activities.

The successful candidate will be a graduate of a degree program from a recognized institute in business administration, marketing or fashion and bring related work experience.  They will have a strong ability to operate and provide routine maintenance of equipment used in the Design programs, such as computer software and hardware, white printer, scanners, plotter, copiers and digital equipment.  Proficiency in the use of MacIntosh and PC platform is essential.

This individual will bring demonstrated skill in preparing written correspondence, record keeping, cataloguing and managing files.  Excellent communication skills both written and oral is required, as well as work experience to demonstrate their ability to patiently and effectively deal with a diverse range of people.

INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION ADVISOR - Competition Number 15-21A

Kwantlen Polytechnic University has an exciting opportunity for an International Educational Advisor to provide guidance and advice to international students within the KPU International department. In this role, the successful candidate will advise and support students in developing educational plans, achieving career and educational goals, and helping students understand and ensure compliance with the requirements of their study permits as defined by the Canadian Immigration and Refugee Protection Act. Among other tasks, s/he will develop and implement strategies to communicate better programs and services for students; coordinate special events, such as open houses; develop and maintain web and printed information resources; and respond to enquiries regarding KPU programs, services, and procedures.

The successful candidate must have successfully completed an undergraduate degree and possess a minimum of two years of employment in a related position, preferably at a post-secondary institution. S/he must possess excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal, as well as the ability to communicate in at least one language other than English (Spanish, French, Russian, Hindi, Punjabi strongly preferred). KPU International is searching for a candidate with a proven ability to exercise a high level of initiative and responsibility as well as the capacity to work independently and meet project deadlines.

This is a full time three month temporary position.
