The Faculty of Trades and Technology is currently seeking a temporary part-time (28 hr/wk) Divisional Program Technician to support various trades programs such as, but not limited to Millwright, Welding, Automotive, Carpentry, Plumbing and Electrical. The successful candidate will provide support and assistance to students and faculty by providing demonstrations, monitoring shop work and maintaining inventory and repairs of workshop materials, machine tools and equipment. This position may cover the daytime shift (7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.) or the evening shift (2:00 to 10:00 p.m.) as necessary, Tuesday to Friday. Additional hours may be required. It is anticipated this position will run until approximately December 19, 2014.
Minimum qualifications include entry level TQ in construction electrician supplemented by two – three years related experience supporting vocational trades programs. Demonstrated experience in the safe use of shop equipment, materials, tools and machinery, demonstrated experience supporting electronic and/or electrical training, experience with inventory controls including ordering, tracking, maintenance and installation is required. Knowledge of WHMIS, safe work procedures, experience in monitoring student activity in a shop environment, and competence in Microsoft Outlook and MS Office. Also required is the ability to operate and maintain forklift/workshop vehicles and have Forklift certification, the ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, and the physical ability to lift and carry heavy items up to 50 pounds.

Kwantlen Polytechnic University’s Faculty of Science and Horticulture is seeking a qualified full-time (35 hours/week) lab instructor to work at our Richmond campus, commencing August 25 to approximately October 31, 2014.
The Laboratory Instructor participates in the Biology Department with the overall course delivery by assuming responsibility for instruction, student guidance and assessment within a lab environment. He or she may be assigned to work alongside other Laboratory Instructors (or a faculty member) or alone in fulfilling the above functions. Lab responsibilities may involve any first and second year university level or applied program service courses offered in the Biology Department’s educational plan.
The successful candidate will have at a minimum, a B.Sc. in Biology; demonstrated good working knowledge of the course content and competence in laboratory techniques pertaining to the instruction of first year biology courses and genetics; demonstrated good working knowledge of the course content and competence in laboratory techniques pertaining to one or more of the following – cell biology, ecology, microbiology; and demonstrated ability to provide instruction to undergraduate students in a laboratory setting.

The On-call Auxiliary pool provides temporary clerical support to various departments within the University to assist with special projects, workload overloads, temporary leave coverage and during peak periods. Assignments are short-term in nature and can last up to 90 calendar days, with opportunity to work continuously through various assignments.
