BIOLOGY LABORATORY INSTRUCTOR – Competition Number 14-97A

 

Kwantlen Polytechnic University’s Faculty of Science and Horticulture is seeking a qualified full-time (35 hours/week) lab instructor to work at our Richmond campus, commencing August 25 to approximately October 31, 2014.

 

The Laboratory Instructor participates in the Biology Department with the overall course delivery by assuming responsibility for instruction, student guidance and assessment within a lab environment.  He or she may be assigned to work alongside other Laboratory Instructors (or a faculty member) or alone in fulfilling the above functions.  Lab responsibilities may involve any first and second year university level or applied program service courses offered in the Biology Department’s educational plan.

 

The successful candidate will have at a minimum, a B.Sc. in Biology; demonstrated good working knowledge of the course content and competence in laboratory techniques pertaining to the instruction of first year biology courses and genetics; demonstrated good working knowledge of the course content and competence in laboratory techniques pertaining to one or more of the following – cell biology, ecology, microbiology; and demonstrated ability to provide instruction to undergraduate students in a laboratory setting.

PROGRAM ASSISTANT – CHIP AND SHANNON WILSON SCHOOL OF DESIGN - Competition Number 14-100R

The Chip and Shannon Wilson School of Design at Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) has an immediate opening for a part-time (17.5 hours per week) permanent Program Assistant located on our Richmond campus.

The Program Assistant provides assistance and support to the division to ensure its smooth operation for students, staff and faculty.  This position is responsible for preparing equipment and materials for use of the students, maintaining and troubleshooting equipment, maintaining equipment inventory records, updating websites and social media pages as well assisting with both internal and external events and activities. 

The successful candidate will be a graduate of a degree program from a recognized institute in business administration, marketing or fashion and bring related work experience.   They will have a strong ability to operate and provide routine maintenance of equipment used in the Design programs, such as computer software and hardware, white printer, scanners, plotter, copiers and digital equipment.  Proficiency in the use of MacIntosh and PC platforms is essential. 

This individual will bring demonstrated skill in preparing written correspondence, record keeping, cataloguing and managing files. Excellent communication skills both written and oral is required, as well as work experience to demonstrate their ability to patiently and effectively deal with a diverse range of people.

SENIOR ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE – Competition Number 14-110R

Kwantlen Polytechnic University is currently seeking applicants for a full-time Senior Accounts Receivable position in our Finance Department to commence immediately.  This position is located on our Langley campus.  The primary functions of this position are:  to prepare complex, large dollar value invoices; to work closely with International Education department; to provide direction and advice to Admissions staff , and to ensure all documentation submitted complies with established accounts  receivable and accounting principles, practices and standards.  Additionally, the incumbent will be expected to review, audit and process cashier summaries. 

Minimum requirements include completion of  the first year of an accounting/business program at an accredited post-secondary institute and three years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 

The successful candidate will have a good working knowledge of English, both written and verbal, a demonstrated working knowledge of mainframe computer accounting systems, preferably the Banner Accounts Receivable and FAST systems. In addition, the candidate must have the proven ability to communicate courteously and effectively, and provide excellent customer service.

Salary range for this unionized position is $41,022.80 - $45,809.40 plus an attractive benefits package.
