Kwantlen Polytechnic University seeks a highly motivated individual with exceptional organizational and instructional skills for an exciting and challenging half-time (17.5 hours/week) Laboratory Instructor position in the Faculty of Arts. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of university lab-based curriculum and deliver lab instruction to students for the Bachelor of Science in Psychology lab.
Qualified candidates will have completed four-year Bachelor's degree in Psychology or in a related field from an accredited post-secondary institution with preference given to candidates who hold a Bachelor of Science and/or a Major in Psychology. Students in their fourth year of a Bachelor of Science degree with anticipated completion date being within a year of hire will also be considered. In addition, the successful candidate will have experience in delivering lab instruction in a post-secondary environment, developing and managing lab procedures in accordance with government legislation, and hiring and supervising student lab assistants. They will possess superior accuracy and attention to detail particularly in the cataloging and organization of sensitive and fragile lab materials, as well as possess superior time-management and organizational skills in coordinating projects with competing deadlines. Exceptional communication and presentation skills, written and oral are essential to the position, as are superior interpersonal skills with the ability to serve a diverse range of people in a patient, pleasant and professional manner. They will also possess a proven ability to handle confidential matters and materials with tact and discretion, work independently under minimal supervision, and adapt quickly to new technologies and ongoing organizational transitions. Successful candidates will be expected to be able to commute to any of the four Kwantlen campuses, and be available for occasional evening and weekend shifts. Starting salary is approximately $23,300.

The Laboratory Instructor participates in the Biology Department with the overall course delivery by assuming responsibility for instruction, student guidance and assessment within a lab environment. Lab responsibilities may involve any first and second year university level or applied program service courses offered in the Biology Department’s educational plan.

The Office of Institutional Analysis & Planning at Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) has an immediate opening for a temporary full-time Institutional Research Assistant until approximately
March 31, 2014.
In this role, you will assist in conducting secondary research and dissemination of information under the direction of the Director and Managers, designing and developing charts and graphs to display information, preparing and producing various reports and forms as well as designing and developing publications that provide consistent and accurate information.
You will also assist in performing secondary research functions by maintaining resource databases and using report writing tools, spreadsheets, and on-line databases to produce research reports.
Qualifications for this position are a Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Social Sciences) or equivalent, supplemented by one to two years of related work experience in a post-secondary education environment.
This position requires skill in preparing research reports and creating usable databases as well as proficiency using the following computer applications; Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
