Library Accessibility Services

Equipment

In conjunction with Accessibility Services, the Library offers a variety of services and equipment.

At Surrey, Richmond and Langley campus libraries, there is a computer for users who have a vision/perceptual disability. These computers provide the same software as other student computers but with the addition of:

  • JAWS: voice activated screen reader software. Headphones can be borrowed from the Library Service Counter with a KPU Card.
  • Zoomtext: screen magnification software
  • Surrey, Richmond and Langley also have a print enlarger station.

The Equipment Desk has a variety of adaptive technology equipment available including laptops with JAWS and Zoomtext installed. Students should contact their Disability Advisor if they require use of this equipment.

Borrowing

Some library users may need to have a third party pick up library material on your behalf. KPU Library offers a third part authorization option, where students with accessibility concerns can complete the Third Party Release for Library Information and Transactions form and email it to libcirc@kpu.ca. This will allow the authorized third party to pick up books on your behalf.

Research

KPU Librarians can help you learn how to research using the library's resources and collection. For one-on-one assistance, you can contact your Liaison Librarian or Kelsey Chaban, Interim EDIA Librarian. You can let us know if you have accessibility considerations and would like additional supports for your learning.

To utilize KPU Library’s accessible catalog search please go to the navigation at the top of the screen and activate the person icon (the second icon from the right) in the library catalog.

KPU strives to keep our digital landscape accessible. To learn more, please read the KPU Web Accessibility statement.
