KPU students recognized at annual scholarship and awards ceremony

(SURREY, B.C.) KPU Foundation hosted its 20th Annual Scholarship and Awards ceremony at the River Rock Show Theatre in Richmond.

The annual scholarships and awards ceremony presents awards, bursaries and scholarships to KPU students who have demonstrated superior academic achievement, financial need or have received recognition in program-specific honours.

Nathalie Heiberg, a Bachelor of Applied Journalism degree student, received three awards at the ceremony, totalling $6,500. “My scholarships have enabled me to pursue my dream of becoming a journalist. I have used my scholarship to pay for my tuition and books, to travel and explore the world from Milan to St. Petersburg,” commented Heiberg, a resident of Delta. “My scholarships have made me feel proud of my accomplishments, my school and my program.”

The top award recipients are as follows:

DELTA
-Nathalie Heiberg (Bachelor of Applied Journalism) — Received three awards totalling $6,500

LANGLEY
-Jessica Kromhoff (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) — Received five awards totalling $3,800
-Michael Prizeman (Automotive Service Technician) — Received four awards totalling $4,500

RICHMOND
-Kristen Lambke (Diploma in Environmental Protection) — Received four awards totalling $5,250

SURREY
-Suzanne Barton (Bachelor of Arts - Psychology) — Received five awards totalling $6,250
-Michelle Lageweg (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) — Received three awards totalling $3,750
-Agata Zasada (Bachelor of Business Administration in Human Resources) — Received four awards totalling $4,000

VANCOUVER
-Lee Van Paassen (Bachelor of Psychiatric Nursing) — Received four awards totalling $6,000

WHITE ROCK
-Sandra Alfonso (Bachelor of Arts – Psychology) — Received four awards totalling $4,750
-Julia Wells (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) — Received six awards totalling $5,500
