(METRO VANCOUVER, B.C.) Kwantlen Polytechnic University received a $34,000 contribution from Concord Pacific Harmony Trust Two to establish an endowment fund to provide financial assistance to a student entering the Access Programs for People with Disabilities (APPD).

“We’re pleased to be able to support the socially conscious vision of Kwantlen in its effort to create an inclusive educational community that recognizes and encourages the islands of brilliance of all students including those who might otherwise not have a chance to pursue higher education,” remarked Dr. Dan Small, chair of Concord Pacific Harmony Trust Two.

This endowment, named the Concord Harmony Trust Two award, is dedicated to the advancement of inclusive and progressive communities. The trust was established through the vision of community builder Terry Hui and Concord Pacific to promote the values of a civil and sustainable society, the advancement of religion and access to education, the provision of health care services, housing for the relief of poverty and the promotion of ethnic and cultural diversity.

The Concord Harmony Trust Two award will be presented to a student who is in financial need and has demonstrated proven determination to strive for their personal best and show initiative and leadership in their school or community.

“We are delighted that Concord Pacific has chosen to support Kwantlen and its access programs,” said Jeff Norris, chief advancement officer of Kwantlen. “This endowment will bring enhanced accessibility to university education for people with disabilities, and help students acquire vital educational and career skills to become successful leaders and contributors to society.”

As a leader in innovative and interdisciplinary education, Kwantlen Polytechnic University offers all learners, regardless of background and preparation, opportunities to achieve the highest standards of academic performance. For more information, visit: kwantlen.ca
