Fri, Feb 3, 2012

For the sixth time, Kwantlen Polytechnic University has been recognized as a Top Employer in B.C. for 2012.

MediaCorp Canada annually recognizes British Columbia's best places to work; Kwantlen has been selected as one of B.C.'s Top organizations that lead their industries in attracting and retaining quality employees.

"We are extremely proud that Kwantlen has once again been recognized as one of B.C.'s Top Employers," says John McKendry, president and vice-chancellor of Kwantlen. "This award is testimony that Kwantlen is a definite leader in offering employees an exceptional place to work."

The selection of the B.C.'s Top Employers is based on performance in several areas, including: physical workplace; work and social atmosphere; vacation and time off; employee communications; training and skills development; and health, financial and family benefits.

"This award recognizes Kwantlen's continued long-term commitment to foster a positive and supportive workplace and learning environment for its faculty and staff," remarks Harry Gray, associate vice-president of human resource services at Kwantlen. "This commitment has helped the university recruit and retain top talent, whose collective efforts effectively support Kwantlen in providing first class post-secondary education in British Columbia. We are particularly pleased to achieve this recognition for the sixth time. We want to thank our faculty and staff for all their efforts in making Kwantlen an exceptional student-focused university."

Kwantlen has continued to grow and evolve as a progressive undergraduate university. The Kwantlen community is comprised of many diverse professions, such as instructors, librarians, counselors, facility and technology personnel, and front-line student service staff, all who make many positive contributions to students and their communities through teaching, support services, volunteerism and community engagement.

Kwantlen Polytechnic University has been serving the Metro Vancouver region for more than 30 years, and has opened doors to success for more than 250,000 people. Four campuses—Richmond, Surrey, Cloverdale and Langley—offer a comprehensive range of sought-after programs, including business, liberal arts and science, design, health, trades and technology, apprenticeships, horticulture, and academic and career advancement. Over 17,500 students annually have a choice from over 200 programs, including bachelor's degrees, associate degrees, diplomas, certificates and citations.
