Metro Vancouver, B.C. – KPU Distinguished Alumni Award winner Chris McCue was recently presented with a 2013 TechGREEN Award for his company’s contributions to B.C.’s ‘green’ economy.
Handed out by the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of BC (ASTTBC), the award recognizes corporations and individuals leading the province toward a greener future through sustainable processes, energy conservation and practices that benefit the environment.
McCue’s company – McCue Environmental Contracting Inc. – delivers industry-leading technology for mine and industrial water treatment. Based in Vancouver, the company was recognized because its remediation of contaminated soil, soil vapour, land and groundwater is done on-site: A practice more environmentally friendly than the industry method of digging up and dumping contaminated soil elsewhere.
“It’s an honour to be recognized by both my school and professional association for the work we’ve been doing. We have a strong team that works well together and adapts well to changes. I’m proud of each member of our team and look forward to sharing these awards with them”, says McCue, company president.

To further his team’s efforts, McCue has received three rounds of funding from the federal government’s Industrial Research Assistance Program, which supports innovation in water treatment technology.
McCue was personally recognized by the Surrey-based ASTTBC during the award presentation for having also received a Distinguished Alumni Award from Kwantlen Polytechnic University this October.
McCue graduated from KPU in 1994 with a diploma in environmental protection technology. He is currently a member of the program’s advisory committee.
