A conversation with world-renowned Sufi singer Sain Zahoor Ahmed

Surrey, B.C. – Next Wednesday, Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) will welcome the critically acclaimed and internationally admired Sufi singer Sain Zahoor Ahmed.

Recognized as the “best BBC voice of the year” in 2006, Ahmed is a leading Sufi musician from Pakistan. For years he has performed traditional music from the Sufi branch of Islam to audiences all over the world, with concerts in the United Kingdom, Japan, Ireland, India and Norway. 

Ahmed will be awarded an honorarium and recognized for his immense contributions to Sufi music at an event hosted by KPU's modern languages department at KPU Surrey on June 25. 

The event will also include a public conversation between the Sufi singer and the university's visiting history instructor Dr. Almas Zakiuddin, where Ahmed will discuss his journey, his career as a singer and stories from his life. He will also share insights into Sufism, and answer audience questions.
