Metro Vancouver…..The #18 appears to be last week's lucky number! The KPU Eagles are proud to announce their Sheraton Vancouver Guildford 'Athletes of the Week' as Pamela Scowby, Langley, BC of women’s soccer (#18), and Jacob Starheim, Delta, BC of men's soccer (#18), for the week ending Sunday, October 5, 2014.

Scowby, a first-year defender, has made a tremendous impact to the Eagles backline since the start of pre-season, which has earned her a regular spot on the starting line. Scowby's eye for the ball, determination, and strong work ethic speak volumes not only this past week, but throughout the season. Her partnership with fellow defender Jessica Anderegg, Surrey, BC (Athlete of the Week, ending September 7) was crucial to keep both matches against Capilano scoreless this weekend. "Pam has been a key addition to our team, her contribution and leadership qualities have been invaluable," stated Eagles women's soccer head coach Julie King, "Pam is an outstanding athlete with a great attitude and a winning mentality."

Starheim is a versatile player in his fifth year with the program. He is listed as a forward, but has made his mark in the back and midfield this season. He has great control of the ball, great determination, and is a strong leader on the field in both presence and play. "Jake worked hard defensively for us this weekend. He was influential in holding the backline which limited Capliano's ability to score," commented Eagles men's soccer head coach Srdjan Djekanovic, "As a leader Jake has set high standards for himself and through his actions this has reflected onto, and positively impacted our team."
