Metro Vancouver…..The KPU Eagles department of athletics and recreation and men’s basketball head coach Vladimir Nikić are pleased to announce Wowie (Wayne) Untalan, North Delta, BC as the first basketball player to sign to the Eagles 2015/16 recruiting class.

“This is an exciting time for KPU basketball as we are able to welcome one of the best point guards in BC to our program,” stated Coach Nikić, “More importantly, Wowie has great character, a tremendous work ethic, and he is a role model on and off the floor.”

Untalan is finishing his senior year at Delview Secondary in North Delta, BC, and is a formidable force as a combo guard for the Delview Raiders. A two-time Fraser Valley Championship All-Star, he has played a major role in leading the Raiders Senior Boys to the AA Provincial tournament two years in a row. In 2014 he averaged 19 points, 13 assists, eight rebounds, and five steals per game. In a 2014 AA Provincial Championship game versus DP Todd Secondary, Untalan made it to the record books as the only player to record a quadruple double: 15 points, 13 assists, 11 rebounds, and 11 steals.

After five years of working with Untalan at Delview, Coach Nikić is confident that Wowie will make an excellent addition to the Eagles’ roster, dynamic, and culture. “Wowie is one of the rare players that truly and consistently plays FOR the team. His teammates love playing with him because he shares the ball and is always trying to make players around him better,” he says, “Wowie will immediately bring integrity, a positive attitude, resiliency and outstanding character to KPU basketball. I am very excited about his decision to come to KPU.”
