WBB 11 Amber Kavanagh 14/15
Kavanagh, a third-year forward returned to the court on Saturday after a two-month practice and game hiatus due to injury. She played 27 minutes and her best game of the season as the Eagles defeated the Blues in a dramatic 62-59 finish. The psychology major was a leader for her team with 12 points, six rebounds, two assists, and one steal, as well as she shot 5/10 on field goals and went 2/2 from the line. Kavanagh played the fourth quarter with four fouls and was able to maintain discipline to help her team finish with the win.

Eagles head coach Dan Nayebzadeh noted that Kavanagh’s return was crucial to KPU’s second win of the season, “Amber was brilliant on the boards getting crucial rebounds at crucial times of the game. She was able to start fast breaks because she could rebound the ball and get it out quickly. Her leadership and ability to take charge helped improve the momentum of our game.”

MBB 21 Trevor Schulz 14/15
Schulz, a first-year forward, has been a tremendous addition to the men’s basketball program through his consistent improvement, strong work ethic, and dedication to the team. A regular starter who continues to grow with each game, Schulz stood out this past weekend against Quest and Capilano for his keen defensive play and growing confidence in his game. His cumulative stats for the weekend included 69 minutes of playing time with 10 points, 12 rebounds, three assists, six blocked shots, and two steals.

“Trevor continues to show a lot of improvement on offense. He’s penetrating now to the basket successfully, making easy lay-ups. He is also showing more confidence in his three-point shot,” stated Eagles head coach Vladimir Nikić, “He distributes the ball well and he is consistently excellent on defense. He is our bright spot on defense.”
