Rec for a cause with a Movember to remember

Mon, Dec 14, 2015

Surrey, B.C. - This Movember, Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) and the Kwantlen Student Association (KSA) raised awareness and support with the annual Movember Dodgeball Tournament in KPU Surrey’s Eagles Nest.

Donations totaled over $400 with proceeds benefitting the Movember Foundation, a global charity committed to research and awareness around prostate cancer, testicular cancer, poor mental health and physical inactivity.

More than 60 participants across nine teams competed for five hours in a round-robin tournament, with the winners of the first playoff round going on to face the winners of their pool in the next playoff round.  The gold medal game was between the Magnificent Moist Mermaids and the Bouncers, with the Mermaids emerging victorious.

KPU Recreation and Active KSA would like to thank all supporters, participants and teams who donated, fundraised and participated in this year's campaign. A big thanks also goes out to the Surrey Dodgeball League for providing tournament referees.
