Vancouver, B.C. – The Kwantlen Polytechnic University Marketing Association (KPUMA), a student-run marketing group, recently had the opportunity to go on a tour of the TAXI Advertising Agency in Vancouver. Students were able to witness the working environment to see first-hand what current marketing professionals do.

The KPUMA frequently holds tours that link students with agencies, start-ups and established firms, giving them real-world insights and the opportunities to connect with industry professionals. Previous tours have been held at Hootsuite, DDB, Concerto Marketing Group and Big Rock Urban Brewery.

“The TAXI Ad Agency tour served as an excellent example of the results attained from weeks of planning and promoting which allowed us to connect nearly 40 students to professionals working in the field,” said Vanessa Mora, KPUMA president.

“Aside from the theory learned in class, these types of events provide students with a competitive advantage and insight into how their future careers may unravel.”

Not only did students get a tour of TAXI’s open-concept offices, but they also had an opportunity to speak with the agency’s creative director and account director to learn about their previous education and work experiences.

“The KPUMA event was both inspiring and refreshing,” said Rajinder Singh, KPUMA faculty advisor. “The highlight of the tour for me was the discussion with the art director, account manager and planner on the current state of the client-agency relationship.”

The KPUMA regularly hosts events that create opportunities for students to connect with industry professionals. For more information, visit thekpuma.com. Photos from the event are available here.
