What's new in the KPU Registration Guide

As of September 2015...

  • By means of student referendum, the Kwantlen Student Association has implemented a mandatory health and dental plan providing extended medical coverage and a student dental plan. Enrolment in these plans is a requirement of registration at the University for all students with a course load of 1 credit or more. Name, student number, address, gender and date of birth of students eligible for enrolment in the plan will be released to the insurer and the plan administrators.

There is a provision for opting out of either or both plans if a student is able to provide proof of comparable existing coverage. Specific instructions for opting out are available online here: www.mystudentplan.ca/kwantlen

All questions or concerns about plan coverage or opting out of the Student Health and Dental Plan should be directed to the Student Service Coordinator at kwantlenplan@mystudentplan.ca or by phoning 604.599.2431.

As of June 2015...

  • Students' scheduled registration time and dates were issued according to the new Policy AR.10 Priority and Scheduling of Registration Policy and Procedures starting for the Fall 2015 semester. Please refer to the new procedures document for detailed information regarding the assignment of scheduled registration.

As of June 2014...

  • In the event of a work stoppage affecting BCTF membership, BC's public and private post-secondary institutions who are members of the British Columbia Registrar's Association will work with impacted secondary school students to ensure their admission to our programs is not negatively affected.  This may include extending deadlines for receipt of final grades, or possibly accepting self-declared or interim grades on a temporary basis until official final grades are available.

As of January 2014...

  • Effective January 1, 2014 KPU can no longer accept Visa cards for domestic tuition payments (either online or at the front counters). Visa is still allowed to be used for all other payment transaction types such as: registration deposits, program acceptance deposits and transcripts. MasterCard and Discover Card will continue to take all payment types.  See How to: Credit cards at Kwantlen for more information.

As of September 2013...

  • BIOQ, CHEQ, ENGQ, MATQ, and PHYQ courses meet the criteria of Adult Basic Education, and are therefore tuition-free for domestic students (Canadian citizens and permanent residents). Regular student fees and student association fees apply.

As of August 2013...

  • Payments can be made using Visa, or Mastercard in person or through myKwantlen.  Effective August 13, 2013, credit card payments are accepted, online only, for domestic registration fees and tuition, however a third-party convenience fee of 2% will be levied.  As the convenience charge is levied by a third-party, it is important to note that it is non-refundable, under any circumstance.  Please note: we will still accept credit cards used to pay admissions, international or registration deposits and other selected fees without any additional fee.
  • Waitlist offers will have the length of offer change after the Fee Payment Deadline  (see Dates & Deadlines).   Waitlist offers will have an expiry date and time 36 hours from the point of notification until the Fee Payment Deadline, after which, students will have 18 hours to accept their seat.   For example:  from June 10 - August 20, waitlist offers will expire 36 hours from the point of notification.  From August 21 on they will expire 18 hours from the point of notification.

As of February 2013...

  • The 2012 T2202A's receipts are now ready for students to access through myKwantlen.  You will need your student ID and PIN to access online self-serivce to print your copy.  The T2202A can be found by navigating through the following menus in Online Self-Servie:    Student Menu, Records Menu, View and Print T2202A information.  A drop down box will display the taxation years that you have a T2202A available.  You can view the data or print an official receipt.

As of November 2012...

  • Changes have been made to the way that students waitlist for a course that requires both a lecture and a lab. Students must now waitlist on the lecture component of the class. Students receiving a notification email saying there is a seat available in the lecture, must then search for a CRN for the available lab portion at the same time. If the available lab does not work with their current schedule, they must alter their schedule or drop their waitlisted class. Students may add themselves back to the waitlist; however, they will be placed in their new priority order. There is no guarantee as to which lab may become available.

As of August 2012...

  • Kwantlen Course Search (Casey) is now available for up-to-the-second space and timetable search functionality.

As of March 2012...

  • Delayed Release of seats will no longer be in effect.  We now offer you registration waitlisting on many of our classes.  For more information about waitlisting, please see:  kpu.ca/registration/waitlisting
