Gina’s role is to collaborate with staff, faculty and administration to facilitate the development of teaching and learning excellence within the KPU community. Educational Consultants

The role of an Educational Consultant is intended to support the professional development of KPU educators and the activities and efforts of the Teaching and Learning Commons. They are available for consultations and will work with programs/departments on focused PD workshops.

Kristie Dukewich

Kristie Dukewich, PhD | Educational Consultant, Curriculum, Assessment & UDL (25%)

Kristie has a variety of educational development experience and skills, including curriculum development, program assessment, and instructional design. Kristie’s portfolio includes a special emphasis on designing assessments and Universal Design for Learning. She is available for one-on-one consultations with faculty or support and facilitation for departments and programs.

Lesley McCannell

Lesley supports faculty with incorporating ePortfolios into programs and courses. She offers Learning with ePortfolio workshops each semester which provides an introduction to ePortfolio learning, a chance to experiment with the technology and guidance in incorporating ePortfolios into the curriculum. Lesley also provides consultations for individuals and maintains a resource site and community of practice for Faculty.

Lesley also supports faculty with creating a culture of inclusion by supporting the development of intercultural capacities and incorporating inclusive pedagogies.

Christina Page

Christina is working on the professional development of faculty in their efforts to respond to an increasingly diverse student body by designing culturally responsive and inclusive learning environments and incorporating universal design for learning principles and practices.

Adam Vincent

Teaching Fellows

The Teaching Fellows support and advance the quality of our teaching and learning at KPU by supporting educators through consultations, sessions and developing resources. Focus areas align with key priorities in our Academic Plan.

Nancy Norman

Nancy is available to consult on upcoming and extensive changes to the K-12 curriculum and what to expect with incoming students. She facilitates conversations, field trips and generally brings faculty together for dialogue and exchanges of experiences.

Also another person KPU educators can contact about the K-12 changes, he also partners with Surrey Schools to provide concrete examples of the kind of work produced in the new curriculum. In addition to these examples, he produces explanatory resources about how KPU can prepare for this shift in educational practice. He is available to consult on the ways in which the new K-12 curriculum can be built on in KPU classrooms, the key changes KPU needs to be ready for, and the pedagogical experience the new BC grade 12 graduate will expect.

Larissa Petrillo

Larissa is available to consult with faculty and instructors to realize KPU’s polytechnic mandate through the expansion and enhancement of experiential learning opportunities and to establish a network/community of practice, resources and plan to sustain Experiential Learning at KPU. Specifically, she will:

  1. Provide consultation, support, resources and training to educators and programs to design, implement and evaluate (e.g. through scholarly inquiry) new or advanced experiential learning opportunities and initiatives.
  2. Initiate systems for showcasing common interests, projects, and deliverables.
  3. Connect, communicate and celebrate experiential learning at KPU (both internally and externally).
  4. In collaboration with the Vice Provost, establish strategic directions and a plan for experiential learning and related community engagement for KPU.
