Irina Ceric BA (Toronto), LLB (York), LLM (York)
My academic work is grounded in my background in grassroots activism, law and organizing, and public interest lawyering. Born in the former Yugoslavia and raised in Toronto, I now live in East Vancouver/Unceded Coast Salish Territories, where I spend my free time seeking out outdoor adventures, supporting community and political organizing projects (locally and in the Balkans), and practicing yoga.
Areas of Interest
My research interests include critical legal studies, law and organizing, social movements (in North America and the Balkans), TWAIL, political economy and law, and critical approaches to human rights. My teaching and course design reflects the centrality of Aboriginal law and history to the Canadian legal framework and I aim to provide students with a starting point for gaining knowledge and perspective towards reconciliation.
