Katie Warfield is faculty in the Department of Journalism and Communication Studies at Kwantlen Polytechnic University, Surrey BC. She is director of the Visual Media Workshop @ KPU which explores digital literacy and social media while teaching workshops in data visualization and digital storytelling. She is also the lead researcher for the Making Selfies/Marking Self Research Project, which explores the production and curation of selfies by young Canadian women. She teaches classes in communication theory, popular culture, and media and diversity. She integrates visual post structuralism, phenomenology, and feminist and gender theory into just about everything she teaches and writes. She is proud of her rating on ratemyprofessors.com.
