The KPU Brewing Laboratory now offers beer analysis services to industry
Kwantlen Polytechnic University's (KPU) custom-built brewery was completed in early 2015 as a state-of-the-art teaching facility for BC's only Brewing Diploma program. In addition to top-of-the-line NSI Newlands brewing equipment, the KPU Brewing Lab also features high-tech laboratory and analysis equipment. Located on the KPU Langley campus, our Brewing faculty have access to multiple on-site labs with sterile environments and testing facilities.

Our Brewing Laboratory equipment includes:
- LAMBDATM XLS+ Spectrophotometer (Perkin Elmer)
- Anton-Paar Alex 500 Alcohol and Extract Meter for Beer
- Zahm & Nagel Direct DV-1 CO2 Analyzer
- CO2 and O2 Meter — c-DGM (Pentair), Haffmans ISD Inpack 2000 Sampling Device (Pentair)
- HI847492-01 Haze Turbidity Meter for Beer (Hanna Instruments)
- Haffmans NIBEM Foam Stability Tester (Pentair)
- Hanna Beer Analysis pH Meter
- Burrell Wrist Action Shaker
Generally, results take 1 week for beer analysis and 2 weeks for microbiological analysis. Full payment must be received before any analysis is conducted. Rush analysis services must be pre-approved and are subject to an additional 50% rush fee (based on price of test/s requested). All reports will be emailed unless otherwise arranged.
All analysis services are conducted by trained lab technicians and overseen by KPU Brewing instructor and microbiologist Martina Solano Bielen, M.Sc., B.Sc.
The prices listed on our Analysis Services document are for single samples. Analysis is performed on finished packaged product. For alternate sample collection, please contact us directly. Prices are subject to change at any time. All reports and internal records pertaining to a report are held in strict confidence. Reports are submitted for the exclusive use of the client. Any reproduction of a report must be approved by Kwantlen Polytechnic University.
