Through directed home-study, workshops, labs and clinical practice, the Graduate Nurse Qualifying courses are designed to meet the needs of internationally educated nurses who do not have sufficient education in maternal-child, pediatric or mental health nursing to meet the requirements of the College of the Registered Nurses of British Columbia (CRNBC).
These courses are designed to assist the graduate to meet basic educational requirements for nurse registration in British Columbia.
In addition to Kwantlen’s general admission requirements, applicants must complete the following requirements before final acceptance into the program:

Letter from the CRNBC stating the need for a qualifying course in one or more of the following areas: maternal-child, pediatric, mental health nursing

English language assessment (written TOEFL 550 or Computer TOEFL 213, SLEP 61, TSE 50)

An interview with the Program Coordinator or designate may be required
Students must meet the following course requirements prior to enrolling in either GNQU 1305, 1315 or 1325:

CPR Level C certificate. CPR certification must remain current throughout the course

Immunizations consistent with the requirements of clinical agencies

Two criminal record searches: a general RCMP search completed within six months prior to enrolling in the course to meet Kwantlen University College requirements and a CRNBC search under the Criminal Record Review Act to meet facility requirements in pediatric and maternal-child settings
These courses admit students at monthly intervals throughout the year. The courses are self-paced and are completed within six months.

GNUR 1180 Lab & Workshop Course: Graduate Nurse Re-entry. Classes are offered in the daytime for the certificate and in the late afternoon/evening for the diploma semester only. There are a limited number of part time seats available. Each semester has theory and field practice components so that students are job ready upon graduation. Graduates can ladder to select degree programs at the University of Victoria, University of Calgary, Athabasca University, Malaspina University College and the University College of the Fraser Valley.

In addition to tuition and textbooks, student financial obligations include uniforms, travel and English language testing (TSE and TOEFL).
Upon successful completion of this program, students will be awarded a Certificate of Completion in Graduate Nurse Qualifier
