CANCELLED KPU’s Foundations of Intercultural Teaching (3 Days) Richmond

KPU Richmond
Wilson School of Design 4900

Description:

Developing and modelling intercultural capacity has become an important objective for university staff and faculty. We are working and interacting in environments that are increasingly diverse and are required to prepare our students for a workplace that expects them to have a thorough understanding of diversity (demographic, cultural and cognitive) and an ability to work effectively across difference.

This three-day program will provide a foundation for KPU professionals to plan the creation of a classroom culture of inclusion by reflecting on our intercultural capacities, reviewing intercultural theories, reconsidering inclusive pedagogies for the changing student demographics and revising learning outcomes to support intercultural capacity development for all students.

Registrants must commit to participating in all 3 days (9:00 to 4:00).

Day 1: September 24

  • Exploring culture in the classroom
  • Our individual intercultural development

Day 2: October 1

  • Facilitation for an inclusive classroom
  • Intercultural communication
  • Supporting diverse and inclusive student teams and group work

Day 3: October 8

  • Internationalization of the curriculum
  • Developing intercultural learning outcomes
  • Assessments and learning activities

This workshop has been cancelled.  Please check the Events Calendar for information on the next session offering.
