Description:

Why do we dream? Do dreams carry special meaning? We will discuss these questions and more as we explore the science of dreaming. We will discuss new and old ideas about sleep and dreams, including whether dreams help us solve problems, whether dreams have hidden meaning, and how sleep and dreams help us store and consolidate memories from waking.

Dr. Daniel Bernstein is a Canada Research Chair in Lifespan Cognition and an instructor in the Psychology department at Kwantlen Polytechnic University. Dr. Bernstein’s work focuses on social thinking across the lifespan—particularly on the errors we can make in our everyday social interactions. He also studies memory, decision making, perspective-taking, and other cognitive phenomena.
