The Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) program prepares students to work in acute, long-term and extended care units as a unit clerk, unit coordinator or nursing assistant. This entails coordinating and processing written orders, maintaining patient charts and working as an integral part of the healthcare team, to support patients.
The program provides students with diverse learning opportunities and experiences to work in a supportive clerical role within a multidisciplinary healthcare team. Students will explore how to communicate effectively in this environment and perform various skills and tasks accurately and thoroughly on patients' health records. Students will also develop their leadership and assertive skills throughout the program.
