The Township of Langley Food Systems Study was inspired by completion of the Southwest British Columbia Bioregional Food Systems Design Project (Southwest BC Project). Once the Southwest BC Project was completed, the Township of Langley (The Township) expressed interest in applying the same methods of assessment to the Township’s food system. Funding for the Township of Langley Food System Study was approved on March 6, 2017, by Council, and work commenced in November 2017, with a project completion date of fall 2018.

The findings from this study are presented in four reports, which include detailed research methodology and findings for each research component, as well as a summary report that outlines the studies cumulative results. The findings address questions of what to grow in the Township, based on the assessment of food self-reliance, and offer recommendations for development of the local food system.
