Basic Beginner Listening and Speaking

This is the basic level listening and speaking component of an integrated skills program. The course includes grammar, pronunciation and vocabulary development as well as conversation skills.
Prerequisites: Permission of instructor (students must demonstrate an ability to read numbers and letters in English).
Corequisites: An ENLT Writing Course and an ENLT Reading Course.

ENLT 0012 cr - 5

Basic Beginner Reading

This is the basic level reading component of an integrated skills program. The course develops essential reading skills, including word recognition and comprehension.
Prerequisites: Permission of instructor (students must demonstrate an ability to read numbers and letters in English).
Corequisites: An ENLT Listening and Speaking Course and an ENLT Writing Course.

ENLT 0013 cr - 5

Basic Beginner Writing

This is the basic level writing component of an integrated skills program. The course includes grammar, sentence structure, spelling and vocabulary development, as well as basic composition skills.
Prerequisites: Permission of instructor (students must demonstrate an ability to print alphabet and numbers in English)
Corequisites: An ENLT Listening and Speaking Course and an ENLT Reading Course.

ENLT 0021 cr - 5

Beginner Listening and Speaking

This is the second level listening and speaking components of an integrated skills program. Conversation skills, as well as grammar, vocabulary development and pronunciation are included in the course.
Prerequisites: ENLT 0011 or permission of instructor.
Corequisites: An ENLT Reading Course and an ENLT Writing Course.

ENLT 0022 cr - 5

Beginner Reading

This is the second level reading component of an integrated skills program. The course develops reading skills, comprehension and fluency.
Prerequisites: ENLT 0012 or permission of instructor.
Corequisites: An ENLT Listening and Speaking Course and an ENLT Writing Course.

ENLT 0023 cr - 5

Beginner Writing

This is the second level writing component of an integrated skills program. It includes grammar, punctuation, vocabulary development and elementary composition skills.
Prerequisites: ENLT 0013 or permission of instructor.
Corequisites: An ENLT Listening and Speaking Course and ENLT Reading Course.

ENLT 0031 cr - 5

Upper Beginner Listening and Speaking

This is the third level listening and speaking component of an integrated skills program. The course includes vocabulary development, pronunciation, grammar, sentence structure, and conversation management skills.
Prerequisites: ENLT 0021 or permission of instructor.
Corequisites: An ENLT Writing Course and ENLT Writing Course.

ENLT 0032 cr - 5

Upper Beginner Reading

This is the third level component of an intermediate skills program. The course develops reading skills, including comprehension and fluency.

Intermediate Listening and Speaking

This is the forth level listening and speaking component of an integrated skills program. The course includes vocabulary development, pronunciation, grammar, sentence structure, and conversation management skills.

Corequisites: An ENLT Reading Course and an ENLT Writing Course.

ENLT 0042 cr - 5

Intermediate Reading

This is the fourth level reading component of an integrated skills program. The course develops reading skills, including comprehension and fluency.

Intermediate Writing

This is the fourth level writing component of an integrated skills program. The course includes composition skills, vocabulary development, grammar and punctuation.

Upper Intermediate Listening and Speaking

This is the fifth level listening and speaking component of an integrated skills program. The course includes conversation management, grammar, pronunciation, vocabulary development and sentence structure.

Corequisites: An ENLT Reading Course and an ENLT Writing Course.

Upper Intermediate Reading

This is the fifth level component of an integrated skills program. The course includes reading skills and strategies, sentence structure, grammar and vocabulary development.

Upper Intermediate Writing

Advanced Reading

This is the sixth level reading component of an integrated skills program. Reading skills and strategies, vocabulary development and grammar are included in the course.

Advanced Writing

This is the sixth level writing component of an integrated skills program. Advanced composition skills, vocabulary development and grammar are included in the course.

ENLT 0074 cr - 3

English Pronunciation for Non-Native Speakers

This course will assist students to identify pronunciation difficulties which prevent them from being easily understood by others, and will help student's to overcome those difficulties and improve their pronunciation. At the beginning of the course, each student will identify, with the assistance of the instructor, the pronunciation difficulties he or she needs to improve. The course will be useful for students who have an intermediate or advanced level of proficiency in spoken English.

ENLT 0075 cr - 1.5

English Pronunciation for Non-Native Speakers: Short Course

This course is designed to help non-native speakers improve their pronunciation of English. Through a variety of pronunciation exercises, students will learn to perceive, produce and predict English sound patterns clearly, so that they may communicate more effectively in English. The topics covered include rhythm, stress and intonation, as well as the patterning of consonant and vowel sounds.
Prerequisites: ENLT level 4 or its equivalent

ENLT 0076 cr - 1.5

Real Conversation: Intensive Practice with Native Speakers of English

This is an intensive conversation course with a focus on fluency practice in small group settings with native speakers. It is for intermediate level English language learners. Reading preparation for class sessions is required.
Prerequisites: ENLT level 4 proficiency or a minimum SLEP score of 35 or the equivalent.

ENLT 0077 cr - 1

Introductory Business Writing: Intensive Practice for Non-Native Speakers

This is an intensive writing workshop designed for non-native speakers with a proficiency at an intermediate level of English Language Training. Students will be introduced to the rudiments of clear writing and to several common types of business writing. Student will complete a writing project of their own choice. The substance of the writing project will be related to the participants' work and/or their professional interests.
Prerequisites: ENLT level 5 or its equivalent and permission of instructor based on writing samples and a questionnaire.

This course reinforces, on a practical level, the reading, writing, listening and speaking skills necessary for successful completion of the first-term of the Office Administration program.

Office Administration II

This course will provide students with the reading, writing, listening and speaking skills necessary to support their studies in Bookkeeping.
Prerequisites: Successful completion of ENLT 0081

Intensive English Language Training 1

Students will learn and practice all four language skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing. The primary focus of this course is on lower beginner functional English for everyday communication.
Prerequisites: Assessed as Level 1 on ENLT Placement Test

ENLT 0110 cr - 6

English Language Training 1

This is the first level of a six level English language training program offered by the English Language Training Department. The course integrates all four language skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing. In this course, students will develop a lower beginner's level of competence in these four skills by participating in a variety of in-class communicative learning tasks and completing reading and writing assignments. The primary focus of this six level program is to provide students with fundamental English skills that enable them to communicate in everyday situations and prepare them for further course work in English for academic purposes.

Appliance Servicing II

This course reinforces, on a practical level, the reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills introduced in ENLT 0191. Emphasis will be given to written and oral communication, customer relations, and problem-solving language skills. As well, students will participate in job-preparation activities such as telephone skills, resume writing and interview practice.
Prerequisites: Completion of ENLT 0191 with a minimum Grade of B-.

ENLT 0300 cr - 12

Intensive English Language Training 3

Students in this full-time course will learn and practice all four language skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing. The primary focus of this course is on lower intermediate functional English for everyday communication.
Prerequisites: Completion of ENLT 0200 or an assessment score of Level 2 on ENLT Placement Test.

ENLT 0310 cr - 6

English Language Training 3

This is the third level of a six level English language training program offered by the English Language Training Department. The course integrates all four language skills: speaking, listening, reading, and writing. In this course, students will develop a lower intermediate level of competence in these four skills by participating in a variety of in-class communicative learning tasks and completing reading and writing assignments. English Language Training 4

This is the fourth level of a six level English language training program offered by the English Language Training Department. The course integrates all four language skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing. In this course, students will develop an upper intermediate level of competence in these four skills by participating in a variety of in-class communicative learning tasks and completing reading and writing assignments. This is the last level of a six level English language training program offered by the English Language Training Department. In this course, students will develop an upper advanced level of competence in these four skills by participating in a variety of in-class communicative learning tasks and completing reading and writing assignments. The primary focus of this six level program is to provide students with fundamental English skills that enable them to communicate in everyday situations and prepare them for further course work in English for academic purposes.
