Music

Offered at Langley

Description

The facilities at the Langley Campus have been designed to accommodate music instruction in chamber music, orchestral, band, choral, and solo performance.

Intake occurs once a year in September for full-time program students. It is expected that most students will enrol in a full-time program, but part-time participation will be allowed subject to the fulfillment of the course admission requirements and seat availability. Credit for courses completed at other institutions may be transferred subject to the approval of the music chair. As well, first time registration for some courses may be allowed in January subject to the approval of the music chair and fulfillment of any course prerequisite(s).

Private Lesson

Students may major in one of the following: piano, voice, strings, woodwinds, brass, guitar, or percussion. Lessons are generally available only to students enrolled full-time in the Certificate in Music or the Diploma in Music Programs.

Transfer

Any student planning to transfer to a university, conservatory or other post-secondary institution should be aware that the transfer of credits from Kwantlen to another institution is at the discretion of the receiving institution. Students should consult with the appropriate university, conservatory or other post-secondary institution regarding transferability of courses. Students should be aware that some universities do not grant transfer credit for courses that have been challenged at other institutions or granted credit through Prior Learning Assessment.

For Associate of Arts Degree--Music see Arts Program.

More Information

Prospective music students should attend an informational session where all programs and application procedures will be explained. Contact Admissions for more information at 599-3215, or the Music Department at 599-3315.
