Zubin Kuruvilla

Alvaro Romero
Colombian native Alvaro Romero, a distinguished alumnus from the inaugural 2021 graduating class, currently serves as a Lab Instructor Teaching Assistant (TA) at Kwantlen Polytechnic University. In this role, he collaborates with industry professionals, enriching his experience as a TA by guiding students in problem-solving and offering valuable support to educators.
Alvaro's professional journey in video games and film has led him to excel as a versatile freelance artist. Notable contributions include roles at renowned studios such as Bardel Entertainment, where he served as a Mid-3D Modeler, and Stellar Creative Lab, showcasing his skills as a Surfacing and Modeling artist.
In addition to these roles, Alvaro has pursued freelance work as a concept artist, gaining unique insights into the intricacies of 3D design, distinct from traditional 2D art. This invaluable experience has significantly influenced his approach to creating fresh and innovative designs.

Our foundation program is ideal for anyone interested in the entertainment arts but lacking the body of work or experience to create a portfolio for either advanced education or employment. As part of this program, you'll learn how to develop materials to market yourself and build a portfolio, as you seek to turn your passion into your profession.
Our diploma programs are designed for professionals that have an artistic or technical background and want to start their entertainment arts education, continue their education in entertainment arts or specialize in their current field. Your final term is dedicate to working on your final project with industry experts mentoring you throughout each stage.
Entertainment arts programs offer graduates well-paid careers and excellent employment prospects upon graduation, with many finding work before they graduate. Foundation program grads can confidently find beginner-level positions or pursue further studies, while diploma graduates are prepared for roles beyond entry-level. Entertainment Arts Programs
Certificate
- Foundation in Entertainment Arts* – this full-time, one-year program prepares graduates for entry level production work in the entertainment arts industry and future study in advanced, diploma-level programs in 3D animation and 3D modelling, VFX and game development.
Diploma
- Advanced 3D Animation and 3D Modelling – this full-time, two-year program focuses on the fundamentals skills, theory, software, tools, processes and production of 3D animation and 3D modelling.
- Advanced VFX (Virtual Production) – this full-time, two-year program focuses on the core principles of visual effects, specializations (modelling, sculpting, texturing/surfacing, lighting, etc.) and the integration of virtual production workflows and pipelines.
- Advanced Game Development – this full-time, two-year program covers game development's core disciplines: art, design, programming, and production.
Portfolio Requirements
Once you have completed your application, you will receive instructions on how to submit your portfolio. Your portfolio is your chance to show us your creative skills and interests.
