Early Childhood Education Post-Basic

Graduation

Upon successful completion of this post-basic program, students are awarded a Citation in Early Childhood Education - Infant and Toddler or Children with Exceptionalities.

A student who graduates from the Post Certificate Children with Exceptionalities or Infant/Toddler Program will be eligible for registration with the Provincial Child Care Licensing Board and receive a license to practice as a Special Needs Educator or Infant and Toddler Educator.

Description

This part-time program is offered in the evening, with some Saturday classes. Each citation has a full-time practicum component scheduled after all course work is complete. Both programs have courses common to each to prevent duplication of study for those wanting both citations. A regular schedule of offerings is available through the Admissions office. To enroll in the post-certificate programs, you need to have completed a Basic ECE program and provide proof of criminal record clearance. Prior to practicum placements, a criminal record clearance will be required. After acceptance into the program, you will receive further registration information with regard to individual course offerings. It is important you meet application deadlines as courses are not offered if there are insufficient applicants. For those students who do not take a course every semester, application for re-entry into the program is required. For practicum courses you will need to meet health requirements of the practicum site.
