Peer Tutor Application

Peer tutors work one-on-one with KPU students who need support in their academic courses and help them develop effective learning skills. Tutoring is offered in-person with remote options available for students to join online sessions. Tutors also assist with the promotion of TLC services and programs.

We hire tutors in all subject areas, such as ENGL, MATH, BIOL, CHEM, PHYS, BUSI, HRMT, ENTR, ACCT, BUQU, INFO, ECON, ELST, DESN, POST BACC, WRITING and more. Writing tutors can be accepted from any discipline.  

Requirements:

  • Be a current, registered KPU student

  • Maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 (with B+ or higher in the subjects you want to tutor)

  • Two reference letters from KPU instructors in the subject area (emailed directly to TLCOnline@kpu.ca)

  • Have completed at least 24 credit hours (undergraduate programs) and 18 hours (post-baccalaureate programs

Responsibilities:

  • Tutors are required to attend in-person, six-hour Fundamentals training and complete related activities

  • Guide the student in deeper understanding of course concepts and study skills

  • Maintain TLC confidentiality policies

  • Uphold academic integrity

  • Maintain professionalism through punctuality and clear communication

  • Keep tutoring logs up to date

  • Help students book appointments with Learning Strategists for additional support

Wage scale:

We offer a minimum of 6 hours (maximum of 15 hours) of work per week.
