Administration (BBA)

Offered at Richmond, Surrey and Langley

Entrepreneurial Leadership

Intake: Full-time and Part-time start for 3rd and 4th year students.

Graduation

Upon successful completion of this program, students are awarded a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA).

Description

The Bachelor of Business Administration Program provides full-time and part-time intensive study for students wishing to earn a business degree Kwantlen University College.

This degree is an appropriate goal for students who want to study beyond a diploma or their initial two years of post secondary education. Students enter the program after either successfully completing a college business diploma or two years of study at a post-secondary institution. This program then offers the third and fourth years of the degree program.

The BBA degree program provides advanced business / entrepreneurial / leadership training and is the next step for many students in their life-long learning process. It integrates business skills and concepts learned in different functional areas of business.

Students acquire:

Some unique features of this program are:

Graduates who have applied and practiced employability skills. Examples of how this will be achieved include practicums, learning partnerships with business, applied projects and assignments and ongoing work experience;

Prior learning assessment allowing individuals with appropriate work experience to further their education in their own community. These will mainly be mid-career individuals looking to enhance professional qualifications;

Full block transfer of credits from recognized college and university programs;

Focus on management of small to medium sized businesses, entrepreneurial management and management of service sector enterprises;

Student exit / re-entry flexibility, where a student can complete the program at their own pace. This allows for a student's changing outside-of-school time requirements and does not lock them into a rigid program structure and timeframe;

Professional development for individuals seeking higher level training.

Career Opportunities

The degree design is based on extensive consultations with business leaders. They told us there is a requirement for managers and entrepreneurs who can take Business leadership roles or start their own businesses.

Graduates will be engaged in enterprise development, management and leadership in small and medium sized businesses. Based on Labour Market Trends in British Columbia (1994) which identify a shift of employment from the goods manufacturing section to the services sector, the program will focus more on services than manufacturing.

Admission Requirements

Students enter the program in the third year, upon completion of two years of study. The admission requirements are met by one of the following:

Completion of a business-related diploma from a recognized college or university, with a minimum of 60 credits, a cumulative GPA of 2.7 or higher, and a C+ or higher in accounting and statistics; or,
