Policy Studies

Sustainability has become the leading concept in defining the way we live. All aspects of society are changing to reflect the growing need for sustainability policy. New initiatives that have gained popularity and importance include:

  • Urban Farms
  • Bike Lanes
  • Light Rail
  • Affordable Housing
  • Alternative Energy
  • Zero-Waste Buildings
  • Green Business

Policy makes these innovations a reality and students can be a part of these changes with a degree in Policy Studies.

The Bachelor's Degree in Policy Studies is both applied and interdisciplinary. Students will work with sustainability policy practitioners in developing real policy on current community projects. At the same time, they will learn about policy from the perspective of economics, philosophy, political science, environmental studies, and psychology.

Student Profile

Successful students in Policy Studies are people who are looking for a field of study that allows them to engage with social problems that result from such things as climate change, environmental degradation, urbanization, population growth, and political apathy on the part of voters. A desire to apply what one learns to practical problem solving and a passion to bring about positive change are essential characteristics.
