Dr. Anjana Balakrishnan holds a PhD in Social Psychology, with a collaborative specialization in Migration and Ethnic Relations from Western University. Prior to teaching at Kwantlen, Dr. Balakrishnan taught for several institutions including Memorial University, Western University, the University of Guelph-Humber and the University of Regina.

Areas of Interest

Her research interests are in anti-oppressive pedagogy, inclusive teaching, culturally sensitive behaviours and attitudes, and the intersection between culture and social psychology. She is passionate about creating an inclusive teaching environment and sharing her expertise and love for psychology with her students. She has expertise teaching large online groups (up to 400) in addition to teaching in person classes of various sizes. She describes herself as a hardcore foodie, beginner hiker, close to friends and family, and a generally fun-loving person.
