Surrey, B.C. – Experience what happens when thought meets action at Kwantlen Polytechnic University’s (KPU) ninth annual Surrey open house.

KPU Surrey’s annual open house takes place on Saturday, March 4 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Explore the campus on a guided tour, connect with students, faculty and alumni, attend information sessions and special presentations, take part in fun, hands-on activities, and more. Three lucky winners will even be walking away with a $500 KPU tuition waiver.

“Open house is a wonderful opportunity for us to interact with students and parents, and members of the community,” said Dr. Alan Davis, KPU president and vice-chancellor. “It’s exciting to see so many people on our campus asking questions and discovering the many opportunities found in post-secondary education.”

Fourth-year journalism student and open house volunteer Mel Pomerleau adds, “I think students get a really good sense of what it’s like to be a KPU student after attending open house. There are a lot of fun things happening and it’s a great way to see everything up close and talk to other people.”

The event includes a range of interactive displays and activities including ceramics and print making, chemistry magic shows, math card tricks, film screenings, trades demonstrations and more. Strike a pose in the photo booth or stop by for an airbrush or henna tattoo.

Guests will also be entertained by Bhangra dancers and an exciting line up for local talent including KPU student, Argel Monte de Ramos, KPU alumni, Calvin “Kalvonix” Tiu, and indie-folk artist, Jordan Klassen. Guildford Town Centre (GTC) will also be onsite with giveaways including mall gift cards.

“We are proud of our partnership with KPU. Their programs are well aligned with many career opportunities Guildford can offer,” said Peggy Howard, GTC general manager. “For instance, many graduates of KPU’s design programs have gone on to find employment with prominent fashion retailers we have a relationship with.”

The KPU Surrey open house sees hundreds of visitors each year. Registration is recommended and can be completed online at kpu.ca/openhouse.

Attendees are also encouraged to get posting on social media using the hashtag #KPUOpenHouse for an extra chance at winning prizes.

The KPU Surrey campus is located at 12666 72 Ave. The event is free and open to the public. Parking for the event is also free. For details contact the Future Students’ Office at 604-599-3030 or openhouse@kpu.ca
