Bachelor of Business Administration
(BBA) in Entrepreneurial
Leadership
Offered at Richmond and Surrey campuses (Full-time and Part-time)
Description
The Bachelor of Business Administration Program provides full-time and part-time intensive study for students wishing to earn a business degree.
Based on extensive consultations with business leaders, the degree is designed for managers and entrepreneurs who intend to take Business leadership roles or start their own businesses. Graduates will be engaged in enterprise development and management and leadership in small and medium sized business.
This degree is an appropriate goal for students who want to study beyond a diploma or their initial two years of post secondary education. Students enter the program after either successfully completing a college business diploma or two years (60 credits) of study at a post-secondary institution. This program then offers the third and fourth years of the degree program.
Degree classes are scheduled for evenings and weekends to allow students to further their education while maintaining current employment.
Students acquire:
Technical business skills through subject specific studies;
General success skills through employability skills studies;
and
A better understanding of human society and how to con-
tribute to it through liberal education studies.
Some unique features of this program are:
Practicum, learning partnerships with business, applied
projects and assignments and ongoing work experience;
Full block transfer of credits from recognized college and
university programs;
Focus on management of small to medium sized businesses,
entrepreneurial management and management of service
sector enterprises;
Exit/re-entry flexibility, where a student can complete the
program at their own pace. This allows for changing outside-
of-school time requirements and does not lock a student into
a rigid program structure and timeframe;
Professional development for individuals seeking higher level
training.
Options: Regular and Co-op Mode
Students may graduate from either the Bachelor of Business Administration degree mode or the optional Co-operative Education mode. Students applying for Co-op must complete all prescribed courses with a cumulative GPA of a least 2.7.
In order to receive a Co-operative Education designation, the following criteria must be met in addition to the 120 credit hours of course work:
Satisfactory completion of two four-month work terms.

Career Opportunities
Depending upon their capabilities and experience, a graduate may be able to attain advancement with their current employer, develop their own business enterprise, or fill a variety of management and leadership positions in small and medium sized businesses.
Admission Requirements
Students enter the program in the third year, upon completion of two years of study. The admission requirements are met by one of the following:
Completion of a business-related diploma from a recognized
college or university, with a minimum of 60 credits, a
cumulative GPA of 2.7 or higher, and a C+ or higher in
Accounting and Statistics; or,
Completion of 60 transferable credits at the undergraduate
level from any recognized college, including the required six
bridging courses, or transferable equivalents, with a
minimum cumulative GPA of 2.7 and with a C+ in
Accounting and Statistics.; or,
Under exceptional circumstances students with either a busi-
ness diploma or 60 university transferable credits, including
the required six bridging courses, but who do not meet the
GPA requirements or the C+ in Statistics and Accounting,
may apply as a special entrant. These applicants must submit
two business and/or personal references and resume. A
short presentation may be required.
Note: As of September 2002, a first year English course (excluding ENGL 1099) is a requirement for graduation for all Kwantlen degrees. Students registering in the BBA program, after September 2002, must also complete this requirement.
Bridging Program Courses
Students who do not have a two-year business related diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution are required to complete six “bridging” courses. Students do not have to repeat any courses they have already taken, including equivalent courses from other institutions. All of these courses are widely offered at Kwantlen.
If the student wishes to attempt PLA credits either to make up some of the 60 credits required for entry or for the bridging courses, they should contact Counselling and the PLA Coordinator in the academic department offering the course for which they are seeking PLA credit (e.g.: a student desiring PLA credit for BUSI 1210 - Essentials of Management, must contact Counselling and the Business Management Department directly). This assessment should be initiated at least six months in advance of the intended start date.
Content
The complete degree program will require 120 semester credit hours of post-secondary courses. This includes the initial two years of post-secondary education equal to 60 semester credit hours. The third and fourth year courses will provide an additional 60 semester credit hours consisting of 45 semester credit hours of Business studies and 15 semester credit hours of Liberal Education studies.
The courses in third and fourth year are rigorous and demanding. Prior to registering, the student should carefully consider the time requirements of part-time versus full-time study based on their individual work and personal situation.
Important Note: Courses for the BBA Program are typically offered Monday through Thursday evenings from 1600 to 1900 and from 1900 to 1000. Some courses may also be available on Fridays from 1600 to 1900 and on Saturdays from 0900 to 1200pm and 1300 to 1600. All courses are not offered at all times or on all campuses. It is important to ensure work and personal schedules can accommodate these times prior to committing to the program.

Students are able to enter and exit the final two years of the program as their needs change. Students must complete all the required courses to graduate, but they are not required to do them in the stated order. They may take longer than a year at each level if they prefer to study part-time. All courses are three credit hours unless otherwise noted.
Several courses (e.g. ENTR 3110, ENTR 3140 and others) are prerequisites and must be successfully completed before a student will be admitted to other courses. As well, some courses are not offered every term and/or during evenings and/or on all campuses. Please consult an Educational Advisor, for help in planning a program and for further details.

English Requirement
One post-secondary English course (such as ENGL 1100 or 1110) is a graduation requirement for all Kwantlen University College degrees. If English was not taken prior to BBA entrance, students must take ENGL 1100 or 1110 (or equivalent) in addition to the above courses. Resulting in 123 credits to graduate.
Note: If the student started the BBA program prior to September 2002, this English requirement does not apply
Graduation
Upon successful completion of this program, students are awarded a Bachelor of Business Administration in Entrepreneurial Leadership.
