Entrepreneurship
DESCRIPTION

This part-time program, offered at our Richmond Campus, is targeted at people who want to start their own business. It covers the basic skills required to research, analyze, start and run a successful business with an emphasis on learning and applying practical skills. Interactive classes include guest speakers, and group and individual exercises. Courses and topics include sales skills, marketing, business administration, finance & accounting and business planning. HRDC sponsorship is available for eligible participants. Students must attend an Entrepreneurship information session and have a personal interview with the program coordinator to be admitted into the program.

ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS
  • Attend an information session and qualifying interview
  • Develop a business concept
  • Course is only open to HRDC sponsored clients
CONTENT

Course work includes lectures, case studies, problem solving, tutorials and mentoring.

In order to receive the certificate, students must successfully complete courses, complete and present a business plan, and start their business.

One group each year is taught with an emphasis towards the unique problems experienced by new immigrants to Canada, mainly Chinese.

GRADUATION

Upon successful completion of this program, students are awarded a Statement of Completion in Entrepreneurship.
