Receiving the Student Research and Innovation Grant from KPU allowed me to expand my honours thesis project beyond what I would have otherwise been able to design without funding. Being able to compensate participants allows me to gather data from a wider and more diverse sample. It also allows me to recruit a larger number of participants to my study. In addition, I gained valuable experience when applying for the SRIG. Completing the application gave me insight into what is involved in the process of preparing and submitting grant applications, and I will be able to use that to help prepare grant applications for graduate school. I would recommend applying for the SRIG to anyone who is completing an honours or research project!
