As a history student, the SRIG allowed me to use the skills I honed during my undergraduate program and polish them; it was an enriching experience that fostered my intellectual growth. I got to work with a close-knit team analyzing Canadian multinational corporations’ connections to Brazilian technocrats during the latter’s military regime (1964-1985). We spent months researching available primary and secondary source materials, wrote an in-depth report, and had the opportunity to present our findings for the Canadian Journal of Latin American and Caribbean Studies at the University of Toronto. I know that I will be able to call upon the experience in future endeavours in academia — the SRIG program has prepared me for what lies ahead.
