Piano and Theory Teacher/Early Childhood Music Instructor/Collaborative Pianist

With a great passion for teaching, Charmaine enjoys motivating and sharing her love of music with students of all ages and levels. Charmaine has dedicated herself to music education for more than 19 years and has worked with students of all ages and backgrounds in Canada and Singapore. Her students participate in annual concerts, music festivals, as well as examinations through the British Columbia Conservatory of Music (BCCM), the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM), and the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM).

Charmaine obtained a Master of Education Degree and a Bachelor of Music Degree from the University of British Columbia (UBC), as well as an Associated Diploma in Performance and Piano Pedagogy from the Victoria Conservatory of Music. Her mentors in piano performance and music education include Alice Enns, Dr. Scott Goble, Dr. Corey Hamm, Dr. Joy Innis, Mayling Kwok, Dr. Ronald Morgan, and the late Dr. Robin and Winifred Scott Wood.

Charmaine currently holds teaching positions as an early childhood educator and an independent piano and theory teacher at the British Columbia Conservatory of Music and the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts. She also collaborates frequently with instrumentalists in concert events and festivals throughout Vancouver, BC. Charmaine truly endeavours to explore the wonders of music with all her students and looks forward to imparting inspirational opportunities of expression, creativity, and artistry through the experiences of collaborative community music-making.
